Any News on 4.09 ??

Or planes we were supposed to get years ago, like the fokker and CW-21.

So they're ditching the anti-hack stuff for 4.09? Nice! Perhaps they saw how much good was possible(just look at the flyables here)

I think the opposite...in that the new map will be able to be used by our map-makers to have other textures etc. and the new objects will come in useful

whereas i think new planes are hardly necessary... rather than just being able to fly the ones we got...as is being done here

The Slovakia map is a third-party project... albeit with Olegs approval... so they got the tools and secrets which our boys are having to find for themselves

I agree with Fred. Meister, I don't know if you followed the Slovakia thread on ubi forums, the screenshots there are incredible, it is fantastic work, and it's a lot of passion placed in those maps. That IS the il2 MAP. Something else: on most maps objects were placed automatically, that's why the towns and villages have no personality on most maps, they are all alike. On the contrary, on Slovakia map they were placed by hand, that takes a lot of time, but the result as shown in those screenshots are astonishing. THAT map is ALIVE. As I said other time, I'll wait patiently for that map. And for the other two maps too. I haven't seen many pics with the other 2 maps, but those few I saw were very very nice.

Again think twice before accusing these guys that they are "lazy" or something. Don't be mean M8s!

Moder are nice .... but create a map like Slovakia is a very hard work .... And I prefer have a Slovakian map instead of CR-32, new gunsight ... etc ... :?

The 4.09m will give us 3 maps :
- Slovakia
- Bessarabia
- AFN (with Malta)

And probably no new aircraft.

Instead of adding all the new aircraft it'd be great if they could make cockpits for all aircraft, because partly I don't understand why they didn't put cockpit in the all the planes in the first place?? Surely people would love it more if all planes were flyable than having some only AI aircraft??

well for the Oleg team ...it takes a lot more work to make a plane with a flyable cockpit...than just AI...especially when they are trying to keep things accurate.... and some planes have no examples available to go and photo or measure etc. to keep it as real as possible.

Don't forget most of the new cockpits from here are either made from planes of the same types but just different models, or just something which will fit and looks as similar as possible

You cannot expect the home team to drop their standards quite so easily...so we do have some advantages over them in a way...because we know that any cockpit is better than none

@Fred,I once read the Zoo that the guy who was supposed to make the cockpit for the P-36 series said that he stopped because he could not find out what was the COLOR of a couple of knobs in the pit!!!!!! Confusedhock:

Planes that use the same cockpit, i.e. the Mc 200 series, and as everyone who can Google™ can see, (P-36) should have been flyable.....not to mention the B-25 series also. I think maybe the onwhine crowd is scared of a B-25G/H armed with rockets and that great 75mm boomstick practicing a little "airfield supression" !

Which is a shame, because i think the Avia, the Fokker, the CW-21 and one other off the top of my head that i forget were in development or 'in the can' before the Lurch was ill-conceived in 1946..

I think we all agree. Adding Jippo's Ju-88 variants as AI would have been nice as well.

The maps are fairly easy to implement and done by the 3rd party. All that Oleg has to do really is implement that new objects, set up an installer and send it to beta.

wrong.

he stopped for two reasons

1/no answers toemails from luthier who had ordered the pit

2/later, lack of free time available

Stop saying that !
It is your point of view ... and I prefer a Slovakian map instead of Spit Mk1.
You are the first person I meet who say we don't need map !

Try to create a map like Slovakia. Try to create a really realistic map during more of 2 years ...

I NEED MAP AND I DON'T NEED SPIT MKI !!!

I think a new map offers much more scope to make more and new interesting missions than just another flyable plane does.
and without interesting missions we are just bumbling around...it is mainly the DF fanatics who don't care about maps and missions...just upping their score

there have certainly been several projects which took a lot of time and then cancelled because of some silly reason.... what a pity.... there was that nice B-29 cockpit too

looking at the latest pix of the slovakia map in ORR at ubi....I can't wait for it to come.... and our map makers will be rubbing their hands together in anticipation too no doubt

Something to remember about the AI aircraft; the FM's were not intended to be flown by humans. The FM were tailored to the AI. Not that it isn't nice to have, but just the same, they aren't quite realistic to the point that the intended flyables are. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe this to be the case.
