I'm back
Eat your heart out Bleriot.
North Foreland to Calais in 6 minutes in my trusty Mosquito.
Sure beats the Dover ferry.

I'm beginning to think this might work.

Excellent work Sir.

I thank you greatly, we finally have something that we can use to reflect the very early part of the war.

Now if someone can finish off Italy it would be perfect Smile

You'll have to be a little patient.
I now have some excellent Netherlands mapping which is historically correct.
I need to get this properly referenced into the master file so that I can start checking the coastline and major river details with it.

I also have to scan and import the rest of my French maps.

As a minimum for the first issue I want to get the following done:

All of the major rivers and canals
Any large lakes
Both of the above require adjustment of map_h to get them to appear correctly.
A limited selection of major roads and rail
Rough city texturing for all major towns and cities to be refined later.
Some sample areas of forest

It would be nice to be able to issue something in January --- but that's not a promise. Smile

Experimenting with textures. Just about sorted out a system, but there's a lot of trial and error involved. map_T will be separated into layers for each RGB colour so that its easy to edit later.

Meanwhile here is a shot of HMS York heading up the Essex coastline towards Harwich. The water colouring is a bit more like the North Sea now.

Does that means that you can alter colors on maps, can you make it less green, less saturated? Is there a way to do that?

Even Moon is green :x

one question m8, when you look at those small elevated islands from sea-level .... are they look ok? No transparency occur ?

thanks

Looks ok to me.
I have found that map_h creates a transparency effect.
This has a temporary map_h with all land set to RGB=4
Skunkmeister is hopefully going to produce a refined map_h from SRTM data.
I don't know what effect map_R has. On the original Singapore map this would have been a sea area.

If I remember correctly playing around with map_h over water areas has interesting effects.
map_h makes a kind of translucent bubble, visible only at low angles. So you can make ships ---- or submarines disappear.

This conjures up the image of being able to make submarines crash dive when attacked, but it would be a one off special map and would rely on the aircraft arriving over the target at the right time.

Worry not Ash. Your map is pretty big, so it may take a while to make a proper map_h. But I will do it, dont worry.
