expendables?

Just a thought regarding some of the fabulous new add-on aircraft that we've been getting lately. If, rather than occupying the same slot as similar types (Tempest/Typhoon) we were to sacrifice some of the less useful/common types in game, which ones would we let go?

Personally I think some of the sub types could be removed in favour of completely new aircraft. For example, we've got 4 slots for the P36/Hawk 75, 2 or 3 of those could be replaced. Same goes for the MS406/410 perhaps and so on. That way we can have missions were RAF Tempests escort RAF Typhoons, or the likes of a Beaufighter MkX could co-exist with the Mk21.

Any thoughts on this?

Heinkel Lerche (or as I call it, the Lurch or the Flying Dildo).

In fact, any of the fantasy planes can go.

I agree with fly_zo, only fantastic ones, and as less as possible.

not MS406. or Hawk75, those were real planes. And if we do in that way soon we would fly only British and American "uber" planes (and some of them already have too fantastic FM) and with that logic we could also remove russians planes

"why do we need so many russian planes? who flies them anyway" Tongue

Well, I fly them.

Yes - replace the Fantasy aircraft, like the 'Dildo, and perhaps the Go-229 (although that does look pretty cool), the 109Z, the ruskie hybrids too perhaps?

The MiG-9 is a nice bird to fly... The others that the ruskies have are just weird though Confusedhock:
Butterfly tailed Me-262 is quite nice too..

Mmmm, mabey not the 229 cause I like doing stealth missions in it, with my uber black skin...

I don't want anything to be removed. I like the planeset. The Dildo and others are Sci-Fi planes, but I like them and flyes time to time (I was a Crimson Skies fan). They are not historical, but fun.
A Typhon with Tempest FM/DM is also Sci-Fi and not historical, as is a Cr-32 with Cr-42 FM/DM (375 Km/h against 438 Km/h)

The CR42 can do 438 kmh? Holy crap! Im gonna fly that thing more often!

Only in real life. In game only 429 Km/h. Not bad too... Less maneouvrable but faster than Gladiator.

Sorry if I was unclear when I suggested replacing 1 or 2 of the P36 types. There are 4 of them in the list, 2 Hawk 75s and 2 P36s, aren't they the same aircraft with very minor differences? Keep one of each type. Same goes for the Gladiator, we have 3 of them..let 1 of them go.

Agree about the Lerche which I think is a bad joke but most of the other sci fi types are interesting in one way or another, particularly post war Soviet types that actually entered service or flew as prototypes.

Getting rid of the lerche is a great idea, but unfortunately it means we'd have to modify Flight models, and Jolly has made it clear there is NO discussion of FM Changes for 4.08.

So, If we want to replace the Lerche we have to find ANOTHER plane that flies like a German Pogo Stick AND that can be pieced together using Pieces of other planes already in the game.

sorry that I make this question again, possibly it is silly , but I wonder why is so difficult to increase the availabe slots and just add something more instead of being forced to get rid some of the already available ones.
