The Lancaster

Ranwers that s looking great, just need to extend the rear of the engines. hock:
Can the whole engine from the mossie be used?
Can you cut the rear of the engine off another model to ad to the rear of what you have?
Or do you need to use a different larger engine altogether?
Most realistic looking so far

ITS A BIT NAF BUT WHY NOT TRY B24 WINGS, THATS IF THEY ARE NOT TOO SMALL

RGAF_JESTER Wrote:yes you are right maybe a PE-8
fuse
AS you can see the Lanny uses fairly small stubby wings

Ingenious work, just one thought though - this may be a nightmare for skinners with the Pe8 only having a 512x512 skin.
P38 engine for front cowl and prop?

Would that be a good basis for mounting the bristols?

The shoulder mounted wings would need to be moved to a mid-mounted position and the cowlings replaced with Hercules as above. That would be about it.
from Wiki:-
Quote: 29, 1944 37 Lancasters - 18 from No 9 Squadron, 18 from No 617 and a film unit aircraft from No 463 Squadron - were dispatched from Lossiemouth in Scotland to bomb the Tirpitz moored near the Norwegian port of Tromso. The removal of the Lancasters' mid-upper turrets and other equipment and the installation of extra fuel tanks, giving each aircraft a total fuel capacity of 2,406 gallons, allowed the Lancasters to carry out this 2,250 mile operation.

if you can pull this off ranwers it would make a lot of people happy - btw which slot would you use ? i mean which planes FM is closest to the lancaster ?

First off err this will be interesting if pulled off. as for FM somewhere between the Liberator and the Mitchell maybe we could replace one of the earlier B-17s? hock:

Nothing available can resemble a Lancaster as flyable.I think is a lost cause to bother with it if you want to maintain a minimum of realism.
I thought about a list of all bombers planes that possibly their FM can make a good resemblance-
Betty - Wellington
B-24 - Halifax
Tu-2 - B-26/Do 217
SB - Hampden/Do 17

Looking at the photograph above, it occurs to me that the nose of the P-40M has a large beard radiator, similar to that of a merlin-engined bomber. The spinner is a little too pointed, but maybe the Mosquito's could be used instead? (Perhaps this could also make a merlin engined Beaufighter).
Failing that, perhaps the Tempest nose would be worth trying after all.
Ranwers - the question about skins is important. We can have fun making aircraft from bits and pieces but is it ever going to be possible to make good skins for them? How are things with the Typhoon skin?

Is like is. Look on skin Hurri and Tempest - big conflict, now is only compromise between them. I can't change that, model read only one skin. And every mesh read from one place of skin.
Sorry for my english.
