That is true. Mind you, I'd love to be able to use those new textures and ground objects. I'm sure that 409 will be opened up to modding at some point. Like it or hate it, it does seem the way of things.

I think I'll copy my modded 4.08 in another directory, then I'll revert the modifications in one of the two il2 folders and install 4.09b and keep the modded 4.08 in the other one so I can play either version.
The only problem with that might be my HUGE PaintSchemes directory, I don't know if I have enough space for two copies of it on my gaming partition.
What about having in one install a shortcut to the PaintSchemes folder in the other install?
Would that work?
I know the obvious answer: try (the obvious answer #2 would be "probably not")

In this thread's first post I read that you should have nVidia 88-series or better, I have 'only' 7950GT, I hope it'll work without having to lower my settings too much.
Now if I can be excused... I have some copying/reverting/backing up/beta installing to do. Oh, and some experimenting too.

I am a dedicated onliner, along with my squad. I have been hoplessly hooked by these mods, and can't imagine flying online. or off without it! I certainly hope you're in the minority!!

OK, OK, on a more civil note. :wink:

If you want to use this (at least untill we can use Mods with it), do this;

1. Download the Mod changer 4.08 to 4.08Mod

2. Install said changer ( you may need to edit the .bat file for your directory)

3. Copy the Sound Mod-OFF file and rename it to Sound Mod-OFF 4.09

4. Install 4.09 beta patch.

5.Copy and paste the new (4.09) files.sfs to the new -OFF 4.09 file.

6.Copy and paste the Sound Mod-OFF.bat file and rename it to SoundMod-OFF 4.09.

7. Edit the new .bat file.

8. Enjoy the best of all 3 worlds ! :lol:

I feel exactly the same way. My squad is pretty much online too, so we are now hosting a modded server to "scratch the itch". Warwings (mods) and Winds of War (un-modded, check runtime=2) allow us to enjoy the best of both worlds. Warwings requires all users to register, and we use a new custom-made application that checks pilots joining for proper registration. If the registration check fails, they cannot join...awesome stuff.
