fabianfred Wrote:I recently got a Core duo E6850 3.0 ghz./8800GTS 320mb./2 gb RAM
those three things are the most important....... fast CPU....fast GPU.....plenty of RAM
I tried perfect.....but use excellent because I like my missions FULL of action/planes/objects etc
on-line has to allow for many varied users so perfect should be OK there
my 8800GTS is slower than the GT...but a newer version GTS is coming out which will be faster than the current GT/GTX
a fast core duo is probably better than a quad core ....if intended for il2 only
I agree with Fabianfred, this is the best set hardware!!!
MOD is LIFE!!
Got it sorted.
gonna be running a Nvidia 8900
2GB RAM
Duo core Processor
Huge memory and all for about
Hawk , when is this 8900 series comming in the shops? i'm getting my new pc at the end of januari, would be great if I could change the 2x 8800GT's [sli] for the new 8900 serie before delivery, ...btw in my new pc i;ll have XP and Vista with a 'switch' to select, my question is ; what steering program is better suited to the il2 game, Vista or XP ?
hi hi thats a clear answer killer, any more reference or info , pro and cons , mayby driver advice ectr...? i mean why is XP better to use than Vista, to be clear on this , I don't have a preference , just want the game to play at his best.
For those trying to run il2 on vista i pitty you, i tried it on a mates pc and it was a nightmare, i we had to turn off all of the security settings to allow the game to contact the ubi game servers, if want to play games, use Xp. Also i have been giving hawk a few pointers to, much the same as you guys have, dual core processor (amd x2 is my preference) decent motherboard with upgrade potential and a decent power supply, power supplies are often neglected but you will pay with poor system stability or the thing might just blow up. anyway, my system
Amd Athlon X2 5200+ (2.6Ghz)
2Gb Corsair dominator ram (800Mhz)
Asus M2N32 Sli mobo
2x GeForce 7950GT's 512Mb each in SLI
650watt antec psu
lots of fans
i can run the game on perfect settings with 8x anisotropic filtering and 4x antialiasing and never get an fps below 25, usually its at about 45-65. i have also enhanced my in game graphics by modifying my config.ini
ok, its obvious XP is better with the il2 game, thx for info, next question is concerning multiple cores and the game, my new pc is going to be a quad core QX 9650 Penryn [3GHz], the thing is that i've been told the game only uses one core [old game engine] is there a fix the game will or can be forced to use more cores ?
No, a programme has to be written to use two/more cores simultaneously. What you can do is set the affinity of a programme (game) to a core. That way you can (force/) run the game on core0, TrackIR on core1, Ventrilo/Teamspeak on core2 and FRAPS on core3 (or something along those lines).
thats good info JAMF, thx, i know about giving programs\games a different core with taskmanager, the thing is though that afther restarting the pc it wil set it all back to 'default' setting, so it doesn't stick the next time you open the game, mayby i'm doin something wrong.. or is there a better way to do it ?
While Il2 dose not support multiple cores it dose support nVidia's Sli very nicely, i have seen a marked increase in frame rates since i upgraded, i have no idea if ATi's crossfire is any good as i have never used it but Sli defianetely works well in il2.
for those planning to get storm of war it is being designed for multi core and SLi etc, and i believe flying tigers from shockwave is also going to take advantage of multi core processing
