it seems as though a couple squad m8s of ours purchased the download version from ubisoft and the sound mod wont work for them (freezes at splash screen)
any Ideas ???

Did they patch it to 4.08m?
make sure your game audio settings are at 44.1K
check, check and double check this seems to be a problem only for people who purchased the downloaded game 1946 from the ubisoft site
Greetings to all. I have the same problem and cannot successfully install the mods to to the Ubisoft downloaded version of 1946 (upgraded to 408). I too, get the freeze at splash screen. I suspect that the il2fb.exe file is quite different with the downloaded version, and perhaps a special mod would need to be created for it. This is just a guess. My OS is Windows XP Home SP2. I have tried the various tips from this site to fix the problem with attention given to the sound settings, but still cannot install the mods. This is a real shame as I would love to explore the new opportunities in the modded version. I will will keep checking this site to see if a fix has been found. I'll keep my figers crossed. Thanks.
