A good question.
Actually, there may be several features that were coded into IL-2 that were locked due to PC limitations back then. Perhaps they could be unlocked somehow now?

In early versions of Il-2 if you shot up a train car the cars ahead of it would uncouple.
The really interesting stuff like having bullet holes painted on the outside of planes at the spot of impact or having AI that panics were probably long gone before V1.0 arrived (but who knows?)
