Okinawa PLUS Japan?

Is there any way to merge the Okinawa and Japan maps to be as big, or so, as The Slot? Many if not most IJA/IJN attacks came from Japan to Okinawa.

Imagine reskinning some of the stock buildings to look more asian and building towns/cities almost as complex as Slovakia has them...

and think of the aircraft factories inside the mountains! B-29s making fireball bomb runs with Ki-61s and 100s! Oh, and the P-51s escorting the 29s!

Yes. -- Should be relatively easy to do.

Take one of the original map file sets and set it up with a new name.

Use Photoshop or Gimp or whatever to increase the size of the "canvas"

Paste in the map images from the other map set.

Sort out the positions of the scenery objects.

---- done

--- probably not that simple but probably not much more difficult.

Sort of like this -- sorry theres a few islands missing

That image is 538.4x871.1km -- Pretty big but mostly sea. Maybe too big to work properly in the game, but only one way to find out.

You could move Okinawa a bit nearer......no-one would know.

That said, the current Okinawa map is appallingly inaccurate. A new one would be nice.

I was in close contact wil a pilot from VBF-83. They flew mission from the Essex aropund Okinawa and inside Japan. He even sent me his essex cruis book. I did not copy much but I wish I had done so now.

Here is my website for the "squadron". Glenn even had a diary!

I live in Japan and can't fathom why the PF team made it look like flat, arid, grassland. They could be more wrong but they'd have to try quite hard. They could at least have made it properly mountainous.
I'm with the esteemed Mr. K on moving Okinawa closer. Two hours in a straight line over water wouldn't suit a lot of players I suspect. Still, if anyone decideds to make it then of course they should do as they see fit.

I know someone who lives in Japan too. Did your last email to me mean what I think it means? If so, go for it!

Maybe I'm alone with my dream but I'd like to see true distance form Okinawa to Japan.
2 hours in hard, heavy flight would be very nice... Big Grin
