Hi everybody, thought i'd introduce myself and contribute to this forum by expanding on Wingflyers hud mod with this simple scheme that also removes the 3d plane in the centre bottom of WW view!

If anyone is interested pm me and i'll post a link to the files but for downloading the tga's i might need somebody to host them.

hit ctrl F1 twice in cockpit mode and you will get your desired gunsight with the dials.

Love it! The cartoony/arcade-ish style of the standard instruments detracted. These are wonderful. Any chance for a fifth option with MPH and feet for us Yanks?

It would be nice if there were 2 more 'goodies' added to this though.

1. MPH/Feet for us Yank 'dinosaurs' that is just too danged old to switch over to metrics :lol:

2. Would there be any way to get the Compass working with the Needle for following waypoints?

I especially like Stigger's version...guess I'm gonna have to PM him.

OK, I've figured out a way to do #1

First, D/L and INSTALL MrJolly"s MPH_AND_FEET_HUD.exe mod:
viewtopic.php?t=2241

Now, D/L the HUD here that you like.
Install this one into a TEMPERARY folder.
Copy all of the hudxxx.mat and hudxxx.tga files in the FILES/GUI/GAME/HUD folder into the MODS/MPH_KPH_AND_FEET_METERS_HUD/GUI/GAME/HUD folder in your 1946 install.

This will give you Wingflyer's HUD with MrJolly's digital MPH/FEET readout, and MPH first on the speedbar.

Now, if I can get Stigger's files. life would be VERY GOOD, and if someone can get #2 above working, life would ne MOST EXCELLENT

I just got around to installing this.
Its a great improvement on the standard game version.

No surprise that OM has latched onto the idea --- and all credit to AAA.

There's not onloy yanks who want imperial units....if there was a way to get the feet-instructions or waypoints a little bit clearer, I'd install that MPH-First in Speedbar mod...even though I'm in Germany....well, I'm only half Jerry and half Brit, but nevertheless European... :wink:

Which leads me to ask, is it possible to combine the cockpit view with the WW gauges, ala the BoB spinoff "Air Battles: Sky Defender"? It's a nice bridge between cockpit realism and instrument awareness IMO.
