matmanager problem
#1

Hi all, I downloaded Il2 Mat Manager the other day, but when I try to use it, it doesn't work! It starts up and runs fine, but when I launch the game (either using the button in the program or using the Il2.exe), none of the new mat settings show up. Am I doing something wrong? (when I start it up it still asks me to find Il2.exe, so I do, but to get it I copied Il2Fb.exe and renamed it to Il2.exe- could this be the problem?

For some reason, it will only show changes, when changes are made. For example.

Open Matmanager, and change everything to default. Save and exit. Open the game - notice its still all default.

Close the game - open Mat-Manager, and change everything from default to what you want. Then save and exit. Open the game - and bobs ya uncle - its changed.

Do you have ClearCache=0 in conf.ini?

Also, when you exit MAT Manager, it should change files in the cache, and that takes some time. If it does not, then there is something wrong; recheck the install/use instructions.

Hi,

i had too a problem with MatManager: i couldn't change the "read only" setting of the folder 'cache', so MatManager couldn't put anything in it.

To make it work:
1-create a folder: paintschemes/cache in the 'MODS' folder of your game (if new wrapper is installed)
2-run MatManager and change the markings you want.
3-go to il2sturmovik1946, open the folder paintshemes/cache and copy all its content.
4-paste in your MODS/paintshemes/cache folder.
5-Done! You can see now MatManager markings in the game.

It worked fine for me, hope it helps you ...

That's why my mat manager won't work! Confusedhock:
I did everything the instructions told me to do, but the cache folders keep reverting back to read-only..

Hi,

First post...

I spent days trying get this thing to work and the secret appears to be the conf.ini line, ClearCache=0.

a) It must be entered exactly as written here as it's case sensitive and any variation gets no response from Mat Manager, so check this first, then....

b) Before initially loading MM, change ClearCache=0 to ClearCache=1 in conf.ini and mat manager then loads properly, once it has, change the line back to ClearCache=0 (before you forget !), to prevent it unloading the cache when you exit the game. This does work as I recently had to rediscover how to get the thing to work myself after a recent clean reinstall, too many mods...

TBH I don't use the programme very much at all, but I suspect you may have to do b) every time you want to load another set of markings. Hope this helps.

Site great and thank you to all the modders for their efforts, it's greatly improved the game. Big Grin

Once you figure out how to get MatManager to work it's very simple and an essential tool for anyone who wants more realistic markings on their a/c

Hopefully now that we have the mods, someone will work out a more user-friendly way of managing these marking files. Perhaps, with Aces permission, using his markings.
