New Vc Pits for testing...

Here's two new Spitfire F.Mk.Vc Cockpits for testing. One is for people with 6dof and one without

Vc Pit One. For those with 6DOF

Notes
In this version, the top of the nose can just seen in normal view. However when you lean forwards, you can see the whole nose stretch out in front of you. The cockpit mirror has had to be moved backwards to get a clear view. It looks a bit awkward and in gunsight view can appear detached from the plane. The cockpit also features external armoured glass while the 3d model shows internal armoured glass.

Vc Pit Two. For those without 6DOF (or using mouse 6DOF)

Theres a couple of minor problems

1. It looks pretty ordinary with 6dof on as when you lean forwards you can see through the cowl.
2. When you look off to one side on gunsight view, you can see thought part of the cowl. This is similar to the problem where you can see through parts of the Bf109 wing root. I don't think this is fixable either but I'm not that worried about it as I never look sideways when trying to see forward...

I've also moved the control column back an inch or two so you can see your compass clearly on gunsite view.

I've been using this version and loving it. This isn't perfect but I find it far better than the original cockpit or the new cockpit version one.

Nice work!
I've put Sojka's brightened reticle mats and tgas in the appropriate folder and it works OK with this pit. One minor quibble: the mirror looks slightly too large for my taste. I know this is because you had to move it closer to the pilot's viewpoint, so what about re-scaling it a little. Is it possible to downsize it by 25%? Just a suggestion...

Which version are you using?
In version one, I have moved the mirror back to get a clear view. Unfortunately this is the only viable option if you want the mirror to be functional. In version two, I haven't touched it. The Vc uses exactly the same mirror setup as the Seafire. Check it out, they're identical. In either case, the only way to make the mirror smaller is to move it away from you which isn't going to work.

How did you impliment Sojka's rectile mod. Which files do you move and do you have to add this to the filelist.txt?

I'm using version 2 with the internal armour glass.
But you're right... there is no difference in size between the Spit VC and Seafire mirror, it's just an illusion. The architecture of the cockpit framing on the VC is different and I think it accentuates the 'stalkiness' of the mirror somewhat. It seems to loom over more and I mistook that for an increase in size. I don't want to make a big issue of it, though - I only mentioned it cause I thought it might have a quick fix

Re the reticle mod I just put the reticle.tga and reticle.mat files in the same folder as the hier.him (in my case, with the new wrapper: MODS\SpitfireMkVc cockpit\3DO\cockpit\SpitfireMkVc)

Edit: with the old filelist.txt you would have to add the path to each reticle file placed alongside the hier.him

Version 2 here also. Have to say it works very well for me, even with the 6DOF mod. The issue with the cowling doesn't bother me particularly as I'm not really focusing on this when looking through the sight. A 100% improvement over what we originally had. Great work.

I notice that the installation readme says to install using the pre-wrapper method. How do I install this using the wrapper? Oh, and thanks.

She lowers the cockpit's position.... to what it should be Smile

Easiest seen, if you boot up Il2 before you download/install and check out the VC - and then install this and compare the distance.

The anoying thing is; with myself, I never liked the Vc for some reason, couldnt put my finger on it.... untill someone online commented on the high cockpit position. Then it clicked Smile
