Hi all,
Thought I'd share what I'd been up to. I've been working on a Korean War campaign for DCG and wanted to see if it was possible to map the peninsula in a 1:1 scale:
yup. And it came out looking great:
Unfortunatly it doesn't run so well. If I were to use this map I might have to settle for 1/3 to 1/2 scale. But I think it's clear there's no actual limit on map size - this one is 1000km x 600km
Also, very large maps could probably be simulated if they were mostly flat and designers didn't put too many buildings on them, like Coral Sea...
Some tricks I learned:
Using the gaussian blur tool in photoshop is a great way to smooth out lakes and terrain instantly on your map_c and map_h files.
