IL2 supports widescreen, why not run it in widescreen? Put this in your conf.ini over what you have:

width=1440
height=900
ColourBits=32
DepthBits=24
StencilBits=8
ChangeScreenRes=1
FullScreen=1
DrawIfNotFocused=0
EnableResize=0
EnableClose=0
SaveAspect=0
Use3Renders=0

I use 1680x1050 but if that is your WS res go with it. IL2 rocks in widescreen!

Edit: If you are having problems with only 4:3 mode (and know all about proper widescreen) then talk to nvidia, I had the same flickering problem for a while when I had 7900GTs but not in il2, in other games that were aspect ratio corrected.

I can't believe I didn't notice that before, because I know vert- it drives me crazy in other games, I was always under the understanding that il2 did support widescreen hor+ (due both to the forum threads about the game at WidescreenGamingForum website and my own experience with the game) but after looking it is pretty clear you are right. Wild! Confusedhock: I never noticed because I have track ir!

I have the same PITA box in my three monitor TH2GO setup. there is a thread in the Ubi forum that goes over this; it only appears in use3renders mode and ONLY in perfect mode. back off on hardwareshaders and it goes away. This sucks, I bought a second 8800GTX card just for this setup because in SLI mode "Perfect" looks amazing and with use3renders and three monitors, OH MY GOD it looks AWESOME!!!! The water and buildings... but that stupid flickering box will not be fixed by Oleg. IF you can stand having it, then you just live with it.
