Framerate problems on Slovakia map - need advice
#1

the problem is visible here, strange, triangle shaped wood shadows kill the framerate

which is otherwise around 100fps

Anyone else experiencing these problems?

I also tested the new dll's but the problem is still visible...

I never noticed the shadows until you mentioned it. I was getting micro stutters on this map until I changed the draw distance from 3 to 2. This may not have any bearing on the shadows and have eliminated stutters simply because of not having to load detailed distant textures.

I get the micro stutters on this map regardless of what DLL I am using.

I play at 1920x1200

I have a 7950GX2

I am currently experiencing the same issues myself.I cannot say whether the DLL files or an installed mod was responsible, but all I can be sure of was that this issue was not evident after I installed the Slovakia (light) map.I have noticed that my framerates when flying over small cities has now gone out the window .I am currently running an ATI X1950 ICE 8x AGP GPU with cat 7.6 drivers. Will monitor this post with great anticipation.

Istvan,I have been playing with various settings in the Il2 set up screen with success for myself and have found the culprit to be "Texture Compress ARB Extension" in my case. With this disabled I have no more triangular artifacts.I have noticed that you have this extension activated.
The problem you have raised was first pointed out by the 1c team with the release of Pacific Fighters manual on page 7 with "forest parameter set to 3",but I have noticed that yours is set at 2 with the same results displayed. The only advice I can offer is to try deactivating the"Texture Compress ARB Extension" and see if you have the same success as myself, keeping in mind that I have an ATI card and not an Nvidia.

Hope this maybe of assistance.

Hi, I don't get those shadow effects eny more, i used to though. They don't only happen in the hefges but also in other areas, see under the bridge. I did remove them but can't remember how and unfortunatley i'm not very good at this & you & others have had to help me out before  so i'm posting what i have , cross check & spot the differences, the solution is there, I just don't know where Confusedhock:

My system is: WIN XP, AMD ATHLON 64 X DUAL CORE PROCESSOR 38000+, 4.0 GB RAM, NVIDIA G/F 79000 GT/GTO.

Never saw such a triangle shades. Fps drop is obvious because of the city of Banska Bystrica bellow (lot of objects to be drawn at once). Try to change forest=3 to forest=2 and try various dlls.

I already tried various dll's and forest=2 is my current setting
When I play that the framerate drop is caused by those trees, NOT THE BUILDINGS! I got no problems when rendering the rest of the city...

I found the source of the triangle shadows, it was mod related, fabianfreds damage mod

framerates still suck though, and now I can agree its the city which causes the framerate drop not the shadows, that was only a paralel problem Sad

I give up

Excerpt from 4.09(final) readme:

[i]Performance optimization tips
The Slovakia map is rather PC demanding, especially the full version with all objects. To run it reasonably on an average PC, there are several ways to improve the frame rate:

Thanks m8, I see how business goes and will get next month one of those Core2duo monsters Smile
Btw I tried Slovakia with Forrest=3 and it looks wow! Very realistic.
Btw2 Can we expect the Avia B-534 included in the final release?

Which part of the damage mod was the problem????

I have a core duo E6850 3.0ghz/2gb RAM/8800GTS 320mb

and have no problems 8)

Im using perfect...and forest=2...... with forest=3 the groups of trees disappear (not the random ones)
and I've been enjoying the far draw distance too....pity it disables the long distance smoke visibility mod Cry

Fred, there is the simple option to just clone the treeline object so then you have both forest=3 and the "new" treeline" at disposal.
