adding new planes to DCG ... how to
#1

managed to add new Spit mk1 to DCG Big Grin

this is how I've done it :

1 locate class.dcg file in data folder ( where DCG has been installed ) example : DCG\data\class.dcg

2 add this line (all in one row) to it ( just before spitVB ):

SPITFIRE1 Spitfire MK.1 gb 1 1 1 193901 194201 SPITFIRE5B SpitfireMk1 HurricaneMkIa 5000 Meters 340.00 kph Default 340.00 kph

3 now new plane can be accessed via class and squadron editor tab (dcg)

4 enjoy Big Grin

cheers,
Z

thanks to Senshi .... :

Senshi Wrote:Just to make an overview:

Adding new planes to DCG and campaigns is rather simple if you know where to look:

Open the IL2DCG\Data\class.dcg

Adding the SpitfireMkI:
By fly_zo
Add this
Code:
SPITFIRE1                Spitfire MK.1         gb 1 1 1 193901 194201 SPITFIRE5B               SpitfireMk1         HurricaneMkIa            5000 Meters 340.00 kph  Default     340.00 kph
in a new line after the SBD5 line

Adding the Bf110 G4
By I/ZG52_gaga
Add this
Code:
BF_110G4                 BF-110-G4             de 2 1 1 194111 194602 FW_190A6                 BF-110-G4           FW_190A5165ATA           5000 Meters 410.00 kph  Default     410.00 kph
right after the Bf110G2 line

Adding the Me-410 Hornisse A, B, D
by Senshi
Add this
Code:
ME_410A                  Me-410 A              de 2 4 1 194311 194612 ME_410B                  ME-410-A            ME_210CA1                4000 Meters 400.00 kph  Default     400.00 kph
ME_410B                  Me-410 B              de 2 4 1 194401 194612 ME_410D                  ME-410-B            ME_410A                  4000 Meters 400.00 kph  Default     400.00 kph
ME_410D                  Me-410 D              de 2 4 1 194406 194612 none                     ME-410-D            ME_410B                  4000 Meters 400.00 kph  Default     400.00 kph
after the Me323 line

Adding the Beaufighter Mk.X
By Senshi
Add this
Code:
BEAU10                   Beaufighter Mk.X      gb 1 4 1 193907 194612 none                     BeaufighterMkX      BEAU21                   3800 Meters 360.00 kph  Default     360.00 kph
after the B6N2 line

After that, startup the il2dcg.exe and go to the "Aircraft Class Settings Panel". Here you can now edit all parameters if you don't like mine, but you HAVE TO choose for each weapon setting the "default" one. Otherwise DCG won't recognize any loadouts for missions ans would abort mission generation with these planes.

Now all planes are ready to use for players. To set up a good AI surrounding and campaign weapon loadout, the following is required to be done:

Problem is: Especially bombers or CAS planes would always fly just with default loadout, usually without bombs. To fix this, you have to do the following:
Open the IL2DCG\Data\allpayloads.dcg

Adding correct payloads for Beaufighter Mk.X
Add
Code:

BEAU10                       B 2x250f2x250w

before the first BEAU21 line

Now once again open the il2dcg.exe and setup the specific loadouts in the Aircraft Class Settings Panel for each mission type to your liking.

For the lazy among us, I have uploaded a package with the files with my setup.

Just unzip it to your IL2DCG\Data\ folder and say overwrite "yes". You might consider to make a backup of your folders in any case...

Required: All current "New Aircraft"-Mods (SpitfireMkI, Bf110 G4, Beau Mk.X, Me-410)
Changes: Everything as written above, additionaly all aircraft have been marked as "playable", so the "AAA Aircraft Mod Pack" is suggested, but not required.

My files are designed for the current IL2DCG v3.38, but should work with the recent versions too.

If you encounter any errors, please report them immediately Smile .

Making the planes choseable in the campaigns itself finally was already described elsewhere in this forum and really is a piece of cake.

Senshi Wrote:Adding the RWD 8

As this plane has no alternative payloads except Default and None, it's rather simple:

Open your IL2DCG\Data\class.dcg

and add this
Code:
RWD_8                    RWD 8                 pl 1 1 1 193402 194009 P_11C                    RWD_8               none                     3000 Meters 250.00 kph  Default     240.00 kph
after the R_10 line

If you don't like my fantasy settings, just fire up il2dcg.exe as usual and edit to your liking Smile

Veeeery nice!
Could we add this data to the readme of every new plane, or into the download thread of a plane?

After I added the Spit MkI to the file - and sorting all the stuf into the formatting of the file - I get a error message every time I try to create a campaign, reading "1SPIT is not a valid integer value"

WTF does that mean, and how do I get rid of it??

EDIT: I found the Problem: DCG doesn't read the data from the class file properly!

Problem solved - it messed up everything because of the formatting done wrong - don't use tab for it, only space

Sad Hmmm.... I can access vis class and squadron editor tab, but when I try to fly a mission in campaign, I get the following error when the mission is loading up the aircraft info:

"Mission Loading Failure: Weapon set " not registered in air.spitfire1"

Anyone got a clue on this one? I can fly the Spit 1 in quick mission just fine, but not in a DCG campaign. Sad

strange .... here is working w/o problems .... i do have DCG ver 3.36 still but i doubt that is the problem

please check for spelling/ or such errors in class.dcg file and make sure you have SpitfireMk1 folder in \PaintSchemes\Skins\

I'm also using version 3.36 and there is a SpitfireMk1 folder in PaintSchemes\Skins.

I've checked for spelling/format errors in the class.dcg file, but haven't spotted anything obvious. I only inserted this as a single line right above the Spitfire5B:

SPITFIRE1 Spitfire MK.1 gb 1 1 1 193901 194201 SPITFIRE5B SpitfireMk1 HurricaneMkIa 5000 Meters 340.00 kph Default 340.00 kph

The spit 1 shows in DCG, but I just can't fly it in a campaign mission. Flies fine in QMB.

I took my other mods out one at a time just to make sure there wasn't a conflict with another mod, but no luck. Sad

If there isn't any obviouse spelling/format error in my data line, could you attach you working class.dcg file or PM it to me so I can see if that does the trick? I'd rather check it with a verified working class.dcg file before I do the whole reinstall IL2 and DCG thing....

Thanks mate, I appreciate it.

Tried your class.dcg file and I'm still getting the same error. :?

I'll try reinstalling the spit 1 mod again and see if that does it. If not, looks like I'll be deleting the whole thing and try again with a fresh install of IL2 and DCG. Sad

I had the problems with that, but after re-downnloading the mod (there were some files missing in the first version) they are gone...
Oh, and the classs file....make sure it is set into the right formatting, but use the space bar for the spaces!

Thanks for all the help, guys... but still no go. Sad

I'll be dipped if I can figure this one out... works great in QMB, but still no go in a DCG campaign mission...

I re-downloaded the latest version and re-installed, but still can't fly this bird in a DCG campaign mission. I guess I'll try reinstalling DCG. If that doesn't do it, looks like I'm doing a reinstall of IL2....

Success!!! Big Grin

Apparently I'd forgotten that I'd upgraded my DCG to version 3.37. I rolled back to version 3.36 and now I can fly this beautiful spit in a DCG campaign. Downside is that this method might not work in DCG version 3.37. Of course, my version of DCG 3.37 might have been corrupted. Anyone successfully using the Spit 1 in a DCG campaign using DCG 3.37?
