Several Questions
#1

1. How do you add squadrons so that they can be selected in the Full Mission Builder, COOP, Single Player or QMB?

Right now there is no RAF 250 Squadron, Letter Codes LD, Tomahawk IIb in Egypt and Libya August-Dec 1941.

2. How do you add a country to the Full Mission Builder for Static Aircraft?

There is no Australlia/RAAF in the FMB so you get RAF desert markings in maps like New Guinea when choosing P-40E & M.

3. Can the RAAF roundels be separated from the RN PTO roundels?

When playing a map with desert camouflage if you select RAAF for a country you get the roundel that the RAAF and RN used in the Pacific.

This is answer to No1 question, but it is a BIG though monstrous one:

you need Forgotten Countries V1.02 wip mod installed.

Unfortunately it is an old WIP AAA mod. Although this is somewhat included ( fewer countries..) in any UP2+ patch ( in SFS files format),
you need it installed as a MOD to have any control on changes:
viewtopic.php?f=25&t=13968&hilit=Forgotten+Countries

The with UI installer version is no-longer available; move down to
download the No UI version and download in one go ( not sure the "in three parts" version still works... ). Very fat, big download that
works better with a fast wire connection... Then v1.01 need to be upgraded with the v1.02 patch...

I don't have UP installed and don't want it at least at this point. I have HSFX 4.11 installed because the few servers that I join only use HSFX.

Many Squadrons were added in HSFX. It just so happens that they left number 250 squadron of the RAF out.

I believe the forgotten countries mod was included in HSFX, because I have all of the new countries including the countries like Switzerland, Denmark etc. that were not included prior to HSFX.

So squadrons and countries were added, but I don't know where to find them so I can look at them using the sfs extractor tool.

It would help to know precisely which SFS files they are in, but the tool will only work (even then)
if it knows (is programmed) with the names of files to be extracted in first place. un-preprogrammed files won't be found. One of them is called:
regiments.ini and others are:
country.properties
country_ru.properties
regInfo.properties
regInfo_ru.properties
regShort.properties
regShort_ru.properties

Finding any of the above in any the SFS files would help you define which files are concerned. Then looking for an existing squadron in there with such format as:
249Squadron.mat
249Squadron.tga
249Squadron

Don't know about HSFX, but with UP2, mods don't go on line, unless everyone else has them too.
So I don't see the point of adding something like 250Squadron if you do
not intend to share it entirely with the rest of the on-line community.

Besides you missed my point. The suggested mod, design for offline use
only, replaces and takes precedence over files in SFS. It is neither UP or HSFX, although about 80% included within these. Studying it
would be easier then studying SFS files directly. The info given here comes from that mod. Even if you find what you want, modifying and adding is still creating a mod.

By the way I have created hundreds of new squadrons as MODs:

I didn't miss your point.

I had already found and edited the below files, but those alone don't add a squadron to the game.

C:\Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\Files\i18n

country.properties
country_ru.properties
regInfo.properties
regInfo_ru.properties
regShort.properties
regShort_ru.properties

The below files that you listed I will have to find. (Anyone know which fb_3do or fb_hfx3do .sfs file contains this information?)

regiments.ini

249Squadron.mat
249Squadron.tga
249Squadron

The plan is to edit a file or create a mod in order to add a squadron as our little group (about a half dozen who fly together on Friday nights when one of us hosts, not on HyperLobby) is needed and I would certainly pass this information along for anyone to use.

Have you checked if 249 exist in XSFX before hand ? It may be a produce of the
above mod itself... I will deactivate MODS on my side and check for nearest squadron number W/O it. Also I may have two lists of squadrons... 8)

regiments.ini does create and need to be found and edited. It has all the full regiments list first red, then blue.
Also it may exist as a mod if you use mods, even if you never edited it in there before... It may not be in SFS files at
all? Do you have FILES ? Check in it. Both of the above can exist at the same time,
but the one in a MODS file takes precedence. If you need FIiles to play on line, perhaps deactivate regiments.ini in MODS, will be an idea...

Also you might consider ( if creating causes trouble )to sacrifice an existing squadron and transform into the one you want... BRB.

...I've checked in Files, not found it there... BRB.

... hum! my only regiments.ini is inside fogotten_countries/PaintSchemes; not good ...

All the above are lines in regiments.ini for activation... forgotten_countries, which includes what is there before anyway. Hope this helps.

Note that format/slot 250Squadron may have been taken by another country
... that's why names above vary so much...
sqn have been used for Thailand !
Note: some squadrons appear more then once, like old IL-2 and new way to represent them...: early Il2 had Squadron's Insignias on planes; the later none.
