Existing plane 3D models as "new" planes
#1

Now that Mr. Jolly and company have figured out how to do new plane FM's how about considering adding some needed sub models of existing planes. For example we could have a "new" I-16 Type 29. Remove the wing guns shift the air intake a few degrees. Add a 12.7mm. The Type 29 was much more common then the so called Type 24 we have. (Thats really a Type 27, the "real Type 24 had 4 x 7.62 mg) It could be put in one of the stupid science fiction slots. A I-16 Type 10 could be done by making the prop a fixed pitch prop like the Nate. 8)

This is a good idea. Loadout changes are also possible for "new planes." Some US fighters with no bomb loads, for example. Or finally fixed SBDs without the HUGE wing bombs (perhaps 100s could be added in their place). New B-17s and B-24s with variant bomb loads. Lighter loads, varied loads. Use some existing bombs like incendiaries for them.

Makes a lot of sense.

A Ju-87R would be very do-able, if the droptanks are available ingame. All that would be done is to use the B2 model and combine the B2 fm with the D varient's innerwing fuel tanks. Smile

Here's some that need no model alterations...

1945 Spitfire Mk.IX.e (25lb)
(Spitfire Mk.IX.e model with Mk.IX.c (25) flight model)

1940 Hurricane I
(Hurricane I with altered flight model - 12PSI boost for BOB)

1944 Mosquito FB.VI series II
(Mosquito FBVI with more power)

1944 Tempest
(11psi boost for Tempest)

and finally....

The ingame Mosquito B.IV is considerably slower that the FB.VI due to its external drop (slipper) tanks which for unknown reasons can't be jettisoned ingame like in real life. Skunkmeister has already finished the B.IV model without tanks

Now we need someone to give it the FB.VI flight model (and then the series II with FB.VI series II when that comes out)

Sorry for so many but once your given the power to dream, its hard to stop...

Here's some more idea's that either don't require changes to 3d models or the new models have already been made...

Bf-109G4
(Model made by HunInTheSun. Armament of G2 with flight model of G2 or G6Late)

Bf109G10 with 20mm Motorkanone
(Bf109G10 but with 30mm Mk108 hub gun changed to 20mm MG151/20 (200rpg). Original Bf109G10 renamed to correct Bf109G10/U4)

Bf109G14 with 20mm Motorkanone
(Bf109G14 but with 30mm Mk108 hub gun changed to 20mm MG151/20 (200rpg). Original Bf109G14 renamed to correct Bf109G14/U4)

Ki-61-I-KAIc
(Ki-61 Ib but with armament of Ki-100 (2x 20 mm Ho-5 cannon in nose (120 rpg) and
2x 12.7 mm (0.50 in) Ho-103 machine guns in wings (200 rpg))

A6M3 Model 22
(Unsure who made this model, A6M3 Model 32 with original wings featuring extra internal fuel tanks)
viewtopic.php?t=3558&highlight=a6m3

F6F-5 20mm Field Mod
(Some F6F-5's (including all the F6F-5N and F6F-5P) had the inner .5 MG replaced my a 20mm Hispano with 200rpg.

1942 Spitfire F.Mk.IXc
(Model made by Ranwers. Early model spit9 with Merlin61)

1944 Ki-84 Hayate
(Ki-84-Ia model but with reduced power (1825 hp Nakajima Homare Ha-45 Model 11 instead of 1945 versions 2000hp Ha-45 Model 21 as in game))

And one last one that might need a little work.
Fw190D-13,
(Fw190D-9 model with Ta152H nose and tail. Flight model of D9, armament (1x30 & 2x20) of H)

Add to that list the Mossie with rockets, and the version with the Molins cannon, and we can really get down to some serious Coastal Command action off Norway and Denmark..

this is absolutely fantastic, not just the ideas and the quality but how every one is coming together and visualizing, the way things are going and what you read and every one wanting their own little bit. Makes it sound like theie is a new game out there and this is what all the buzz is about, IL-2 1946 Part Deux

Variant B-25s like the B-25D already done are certainly possible. I'd like to see the C, G, and H get parafrags, for example.
