Beautiful stuff Jolly, but do we need all these Spits?

As much as I like the Spit - and don't get me wrong, I'm looking forward to this - can we get a little perspective and move away from the aircraft for a while?

I don't mean to be rude, and I do get their is a call for every Spit variant that ever flew, but....I thought this was the "ALL" aircraft arcade

Perhaps the modders are starting with what interest them first, and bringing you the fruits of their hard work, whilst developing their talents...

If you dont like this - learn how to do it yourself.

Magpie, I think thats a little unfair. Ok, yeah, do what interests them first sure but just how many spits do they really need?
And also, despite repeated requests for support and tutorials from the more experienced modders for the benifit of newer modders with little experience, we still do not have this which is preenting the community from creating many, many more aircraft that the rest of us want.

I would learn how, if the modders weren't so (understandably) secrative of the tools and talents required to crack Il2.

I was merely saying that with all the ideas out there, there seems to be a lot of Spitfire mods being pumped out - which is fine, dont get me wrong - but we have a poll for mods with 109s and mirrors which has a majority vote yes, we have a suggestion for the Bv 222 and we have sugestions for 190 later versions and 109Ds. And that is just the German side of things, nevermind the Russians or perhaps RAAF or French...

I truly like the spit - I'm not trying to denegrate the efforts of the modding team, but we have this spit, the Spit Mk ! and the bubble canopy spit... that's three spits in the space of as many weeks and how many other mods have been released or announced in that time for essentially the same base aircraft?

Magpie, I can understand your comment and sorta kinda agree, but if some of us would like different mods then I believe we are well within our rights to request theknowledge on how to do this. Please, I request again, can we have a tutorial?

*edit* The post this was replying to has been removed, if it looks out of place thats because it now is

As I said - let them do what THEY SEE FIT. We should all be happy we can get ANYTHING.

Two of the people who are making, and have made such huge bounds - obviously have a huge liking for spits. So, as I said, dont gripe - let them do what THEY SEE FIT.

So no. I dont believe its unfair what I said.

Oh and it might also be said; these people didnt have a tutorial.

Right, but neither did Einstein or Newton and look what they taught us? If someone out there has the (obiously exceptional) skills, like Mr Jolly and co, then passing on their knowledge could only benifit the community. There are so many mods that so many people want, so why not let them know how to get it for themsevles?

Anyway, this is hardly the place for a discussion like this.

Magpie, I'm really not trying to start an flame war or get the modders to stop adding great aircraft to the sim, I was merely asking for perspective.

Quote:Oh and it might also be said; these people didnt have a tutorial.

Very true - but then, how long did it take them to crack the game? That said, I fully understand and agree with them not handing out free tutorials on cracking Il2 for the simple reasons so often touted; dodgy FM's.

Il2 should be opened up and the glaring omissions/stuff-ups should be rectified and if that has to be done by non-commissioned 3rd (4th?) party programmers, then so be it. However, if AAA is about "fixing" Il2 and expanding it to be more acceptable to the realities of the 2WW, then surely each mod should come with appropriate offsets.

Let me phrase my original query from another perspective.

If we have the Mk I Spit, then surely we should be looking at including the 109E-1 and E-3 before we go looking at the late, late war stuff

I gather from your tag you are a red pilot; so am I, by majority - but I would like to see some parity.

You are right there. And I dont argue against acquiring a tutorial...

And I apologise if what I said was perhaps a tad... strong... but... Smile
