Tutorial request
#1

I understand this has been brought up many, many times before but I would like to request again a tutorial on how to create mods. This would alleviate the pressure on the core team members and allow the wider community to create far more mods of varying types in a much shorter amount of time.

I understand that this could lead to some "hack" planes, so clearly the mods that are added to the website should continue to be screened as they are now.

Might I second this request... and also request that the FM/DM/WL's all stay 'unexplained' and left to AAA...?

guys , how can you expect any tutorial when the whole process of modding ( any type of mods) is still in phase of discovering/learning ... ( first new plane is just two days old...)

Don't get me wrong i am for tutorial and sharing of knowledge .... its just too early

I disagree. We clearly already have quite a good knowledge of chopping and changing existing aircraft, so we have the basis of "simple" mods such as BF110 with s-musik or a Ju88-C6. Yes, we have only scratched the surface of what we can really do, but theres nothing stopping us from making more frankenplanes (to a decent standard, of course).

by we , you mean those five guys already buried in work up to their necks or there is someone else ?

All of them are involved in resolving issues with new planes ( model ... spawn ...) + all the admins. / moderators work ..... so do you really want that they waste their time with tutorial making? .... as i said, give it a little more time

and BTW, there is a language barrier too for some of them ....so making an tutorial is not a such easy task as you may think ....

Yes, by "we" I mean the actual modders themselves. But think about it, if they spent just a couple of hours telling us how to create models for ourselves you'll be amazed at how quickly the "pile of work up to their necks" disappears. Think along the lines of "it takes money to make money".
Obviously I don't expect those non-english speakers to do this, that would be an epic waste of time.

well, i know that delegating of knowledge would speed up the process , but trust me it is not so simple to explain , modding process that is .... and they will end up with tons of questions to respond to .
For example, just look at all those issues and questions at SpitMk1 thread ....and there are clear how to and readme install instructions, and still .... sfx and new wrapper saga .... etc.

And one more important issue is that rules must be madden first for making that kind of mods ,cos of mods-conflicts danger ....

i'm not disagreeing with general idea here , all i'm saying is that is too early

well if more people new how to make mods than the 5 guys that are burried in work could relax a bit

Yes... If there was even a short text explaining even the basics, it would be enough to get people started, and - as leigh said - would lighten the workload. Keeping it limited to a certain few... well, we'll be here for years before you get half of what people want...

Even someone taking an afternoon or something away from project time, to write a basics - this, instead of slowing the flow of projects down, IMHO, would go the opposite way...

... ups , i clearly said too much in my post .... cos it got deleted ( i have no problem with that .... who ever done it )

i was under impression that what i wrote is common knowledge around here .... sorry

...so gents , you have your answer ...

Hmmm, thats a real shame because I reckon its the denial of knowledge thats holding us back here.

Mmm.. Dubious about this. If we all had the ability to mess about trying to create our own aircraft there would be an awful lot of crap turning up everywhere..
However, I do see the other side of the coin too! It's a quandry alright.
