New aircraft proposition : D3A2 (1942)
#1

In the game, there is only the D3A1 who started the war at Pearl Harbor

At the Santa Cruz battle (October 42), the D3A2 had replaced the earlier model on carriers
he were a lot used by the carrier groups in 43 in the Solomons but from the ground

D3A1 : 470 built
D3A2 : 1016 built !!! (815 by Aichi + 201 by Showa)

There is just to add to the D3A1 a new engine with a new propeller (like the Zero)
D3A1 engine : Kinsei 44 of 1075 hp
D3A2 engine : Kinsei 54 of 1300 hp

The top speed is for the :
D3A1 : 386 km/h at 3000 m (
D3A2 : 433 km/h at 6200 m

the D3A2 was a real more speed (climb speed too) and got a better range

The maneuvrabilty do not need any changes, the size and wings are the same
the bomb load was the same but the D3A2 could take another two more little bombs of 60 kg under the wings

The D3A2 also introduce a new canopy but as the canopy is always open for the rear gunner, we dont need it....

The default skin could be the green one in the D3A1 file skin

Surprisingly, this is one that I believe would be very nice to have, even considering how easy it would be to produce Smile

I always enjoy taking up the D3A1, she's a right wee joy to fly! Would LOVE to have a 2 as well Smile

Absolutely!

Looks like the only significant differences are the glazing at the very rear, adding a spinner, and if not too hard the oil cooler (?).

In practice it is more complicated. But any values to fill in there would be useful as the -44 version of the engine exists, and the -54 doesn't

FM data removed

Now to answer GentleKiller's question if it's that simple. No it's not unless you know exactly what one is doing. Whch is why the guys that made the FW190A3 backed up their flight model with performance curves.
