Destroyed Objects - is there a MOD to access them?

MOD to apply destroyed objects in FMB

One thing always annoyed me with FMB. I had to spawn a PE2 with a 5,000KG bomb to fly over a combat area and drop the big bomb at very low altitude. This destroyed everything around and the PE2 as well. THis was a quick an easiest way to make an area look like it was in a war.

I always wondered why Oleg didn't give us access to the destroyed objects just like the regular objects. This would have made things so much simpler. The destroyed objects were already inside the programming files, but unaccessible to mission builders.

The IL2 battlefield is just too pristine, doesn't make sense in war.

Also, I used the FMB tool to created destoyed areas. I just don't think it carried far enough. The towns looked all burned out, but everything around them look untouched. Limiting the destruction tool just to towns wasn't enough.

That tool should have allowed us to burn out large sections of land and stuff, then with a lot of smoke and fire it would have looked like a burned out battlefield.

Most of the time you feel like you're in a Surreal world. Here you are taking off to blast the heck out of somthing and all the landscapes look manicured and groomed. Disneyland... LOL

Should be possible to make a copy of the objects and substitute the "dead" mesh and skins for the "live".

You can destroy objects in the FMB.

It just needs to be near a city/AF, but you can then drag it. With the new FMB mod, you can destroy them with the destroy features, then drag all of them where you want.

Turn destroy on, and right click the object. Select destroy. Drag where you want.

Makes more sense than cluttering up the object list, IMO.

Nearmiss is talking mostly about having the ability of destroying tanks trucks aircraft etc not the items from "objects" menu.
It would be nice to have this, but it means cloning of tanks and so on and this only a few people know how to do ( the "objects" items are easy to clone, but not so the others cathegories, for the later one needs programming)
Besides battlefields: airfields, having wreck aircraft on them at start of the mission, adds immersion, airfield cemeteries etc

in the mission file...when you have used the destruction brush to destroy objects placed upon the map by the map-maker....you will notice that the '0' in their line of data has changed to a '1'

so you can destroy all objects and stationary objects/vehicles by changing that 0 to 1

the [Buildings] section at the bottom of the mission file with all the numbers and '+' etc are all showing which buildings from the actors static file are to be shown as destroyed....after painting the area with the destruction brush in FMB

Not true generally, you can't destroy that way a PzV or a static il2 for example. Only items from FMB "objects" menu. BTW the 0 and 1 has meaning red or blue for "army objects" (stationary armor, artillery etc) in contrast to "objects" items where they mean what you already mentioned, normal or destroyed.

You can take "Dead" mesh of vehicles and use it as a mesh for new object, no programing needed for that. I used part of a Ship as a new object, works without problems.

Thanks FC, that's the way!!!Big Grin
Instead of the way I was thinking, the new destroyed PZIV will be an item in "Objects" menu hehe

I've been looking for a way to revove or improve the unconvincing effect of objects suddenly turning black when destroyed. Still bloody looking
