New Luftwaffe Campaign: "The Kammhuber Line"
#1

After trying out "Happy valley", the excellent Nightfighter map by CY6 and Ash (http://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,3554.0.html), I couldn't help myself, so I built a campaign for it. It is called "The Kammhuber Line".

In it you are a German pilot, flying the Bf110 and a central part of the so called Kammhuber Line, a German defense against RAF Bomber Command that stretched across Western Europe. It was named after its creator, the brilliant Luftwaffe Generalleutenant Josef Kammhuber.

The campaign aims to portray action over Belgium and Northern France from late 1941 until the late spring of 1942. This period saw some major shifts in tactics from both sides, the most radical being the RAF introduction of the so called "Bomber Stream", something directly prompted by the success of the Kammhuber Line. Your main opponents are Wellingtons and Halifaxes (thanks Ranwers!) but you can also run into RAF Intruders and Night fighters.

You can download the campaign here: http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?n...ils&id=711

Most missions are interception of RAF bombers, flying either to or from their target, except one, where you fly as a Night Intruder over England, where you mix with the returning bombers and attack them when they are most vulnerable: when they land at their home base. (The last Luftwaffe Intruder missions were flown during this period. They worked well, but were actually stopped on direct orders from Hitler.) Included are five skins, amde by Graf, VP_media and Opa. Thanks guys!

Wonderful cappaign! Only one question: can it be modified to use Bf-110G-4 instead of G-2, because that versio uses Schräge Musik and has those wicked antennae?

It can be downloaded here

Aleksander!

Well, as it is supposed to take place in late 41 - early 42, the Bf110 had no radar of its own, hence no antennae. And the "Schräge Musik / Jazz music" oblique firing guns were of later date as well! And here I'm quoting Wikipedia:

"The first installation was made late in 1942, in a Dornier Do 17Z-10 that was also equipped with the early UHF-band version of the FuG 202 Lichtenstein BC radar. Further experimentation was carried out by the Luftwaffe weapons testing centre at Tarnewitz through 1942, and an angle of between 60 and 75 degrees was found to give best results.

Meanwhile, Schönert was made CO of II./NJG 5, and an armourer serving with the Gruppe, Oberfeldwebel Mahle developed a working arrangement with the unit's Bf-110's and a pair of MG FF/M 20 mm cannon. Schönert used such a modified Bf-110 to shoot down a bomber in May 1943. From June 1943 on, an official conversion kit was produced for the Junkers Ju 88 and Dornier Do 217N fighters."

If you want Schräge Musik and Radar antennae I recommend that you try my Bf110 Battle for Berlin campaign! See this:

I tried to install the map in my HSFX, but must have done so incorrectly. As directed and provided in the download, I added the line CY6_ash_BoF_Ruhr CY6_ash_BoF_Ruhr/load.ini to the air.ini file located in my IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\Files\maps folder. In that folder I had only the air.ini file plus a 352nd_Cross_Channel folder and a _Tex folder. I placed the folder called CY6_ash_BoF_Ruhr in that maps folder. I placed the files Night_LandLight.mat and Night_CloudsNoise.tga in the existing _Tex folder.

When I started IL2, as soon as the main screen appeared, I had a CTD. Any help will be appreciated. BTW, I have no "MAPMODS" folder in my HSFX installation. I do have a MODS folder, but no "maps" subfolder in that.

Any advice/help? I suspect that the line provided to be placed in the air.ini might be wrong, as it seems unnecessarily long/repetitive, but no one else seems to have had a problem with it.

Hello Doolitle81,
ich have similar problems. Now, i deleted the STD-directory (after i made a copy) in the Mods-directoy and put the Ruhr-Map directory in the Mods/Mapmods/Maps directory. The _tex-files are in the Mods/Mapmods/Maps/_Text directory. In the air.ini-file i have only two Maps, the Ruhr-map and another one. Now it works.
I am flying with Ultrapack und HSFX. I hope i could help you
