rough seas with swells and white caps would be fun

Sure would be fun to have some nice rough seas with some large swells, white caps and stuff.

The oceans we have are too smooth for a combat flight sim, but probably great for country club sail boating.

25+ knot winds are pretty standard at sea, it's always amazed me that anyone developing a sim game of any type would not try to provide a more vigorous ocean environment.

I know the oceans can be rendered to look awesome, as I recall a Futuremark benchmark at one point had some great oceans. That was several years ago. Maybe the Il2 program is not competent to do such a thing, which wouldn't surprise me. However, it the seas were developed as they are because of FPS we might be past that now with the much better computers most of us have.

If you have a stout computer system equipped with a good Nvidia card (7800 or higher is best for this), then set your Water= line in the config file to 3 (white caps all the time) or 4 (water reacts to weather conditions). These settings are not for weak computers as all that water detail is a frame rate killer.
