I remember using a Smartshader that I used from ATI Tray Tools. It was an OpenGL custom Smartshader. You can find people mentioning it here, on this forum: http://nvision.pl/forum/index.php?s=3a3 ... ntry322885

Find the user "yaji" , he mentions using it with IL2, along with some other games...

Just like yaji I used smartshader HDRish and HDRish-lite to get the bloom effect.

It worked well until I installed new drivers that didnt registar them anymore... I didnt revert back cuase they gave me nearly 10 more FPS...speed over eye candy! But yes, I used the Lite version during the day, cause it wasnt as intense... and used the HDRish shader at dusk and dawn conditions which really made a very eye pleasing effect..

I dont know, perhaps someone with the know how can hack it. And maybe use its properties to make the games built in DLLs to use it for OpenGL IL2... The custom shaders come packaged with ATI TRAY TOOLS, they also come with the default shaders everyone knows about... Like black and white etc...

Maybe this helps...

Cheers! 8)

Many THX Avala...very nice found !!

Also MANY THX to the Programmer !!

It works like a Charm...and looks so good.

But beware: fly against the sun makes you blind, so keep your sunglasses 8)

P.S. I also tested this DLL with Settings.INI in root folders of other Games on DX Basis,

it also does a good job there.

On this Russian forum there is ongoing interesting discussion about this effect, and also can it be done in OpenGL or not.

One of the members is apparently programmer and gives interesting explanation what is needed to be done in game’s rendering engine. Maybe someone with better knowledge or Russian can translate it better then I would? (I was not so frequent in school on Russian lessons  ):

Is not like I invented it... I just brought the word here Smile . Avala played the most with it and he was the one that posted on 1C forums about it also. So he has credit or taking the idea further.

Going on their past performance, I have quite a lot of faith in the Russian community. If it is humanly possible, they will get it done.

Be sure!

Bee was a spokesman for ubi

Now we at least know what is needed to be done, remains to find someone with enough practical knowledge to do that.

Found this little add-on for bloom in OpenGL games, and it is not working in IL2, but I assume that it can be made to work with some batch, buffer (or what they called them) file?

Actually, seems that is not so hard to make it for OpenGL, for someone who knows what to do, but no one "in know" is not interested at all, and I have asked . . .

The shining looks very nice. The only problem was my plane and the ground textures. They went gone. I never played with directx before. It also could be a probplem with installed mods.

This are not the original clouds. They where made by Flushmeister.

Edit: Ah no. I had compared it with the openGL version. Could not see a difference but it did not really run on my system. The light and blur effects on the other screenshot look amazing.
