Longer prop revolutions
#1

I was just wondering is it possible to make a longer prop revolutions on engine shutdown. The current
number of revolutions is too small and highly unrealistic. What do u guys think abt it?
Cheers mates

Yeah, this is true. The engine just dosn't kick over like the real thing does. Rather it behaves like someone shoved a metal rod into the prop.

Sorry to distract from the original topic, but here is a similar request:
Can the prop be made to not turn into a 2D disc when starting?
I mean that always the 3D prop is shown and just rotates at the speed it would rotate at like in the real world. Maybe that would look strange, but it should be worth a try.
The only thing that troubles me is that i guess that there is no code in the game to simulate something like that, since the engine start-up animation is purely scripted and not dynamic in any way.

But that would definitely be a favourite of mine if someone made that. 8)

What does that mean(turn into 2D disc).I dont get it(maybe its just my bad english, but i still dont get it)
Anyways,i dont have problem with engine startup(but thats just me),but shutdown kind of bugs me out Sad

I agree with this request 100%!! If the slpw down of the prop could be extended for just a few seconds, that would be huge!

Is it off the wall to code in a new full start up procedure? That's what it's really missing.

With 2D disc i mean: That the prop, when standing still, is modelled in 3D, as an actual 3D model.
When the engine starts up, this 3D model is turned, but then when the engine and prop get up to speed the 3D model of the prop is replaced with a 2D image, "disc" with no width when viewed from the side, probably to save resources or because it would look strange when the actual 3D model would be spinning at speed. And that disc looks really ugly.
In the upcoming Knights of the Sky WW1 flight sim for example this fault is corrected, and when viewed from the side the prop has the right profile.
Can't explain it any better. If you understand German, i can explain it in German to you, but else i'm sorry.

The running prop is probably generated by a ".txl" file rather than an animated 3D mesh

Now abt shutting down the engine;it stops so, like Brophmeister said, quote: like someone shoved a metal rod into the prop.I think somebody mention that a long tome ago here at the AAA but now i cant find it
I wuld like that some moder give his opinion on the subject(like can it be done and such).
Oh,yes i almost forgot to ask,is there some engine startup mod (sound mod)around here.It seams i cant find it :?

P.S:check this vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Cx6V0QAVEU (it has nothing to do with subject but i like it;it looks like a real thing(bf-109 vs spitfire)

Arrow With regards to engine start up and shutdown sounds I think that SG2 made one for one of his sound mods, I also made one for the Tempest sound mod two Big Grin
