True to Life Carriers...Can it Be Done?

What would it take to resize the carriers? I mean to allow them to fit a real complement of aircraft on deck for launch? Like so...

(Tho I know this pic does not show the carrier launching...just an example)

Is this in our capabilities to do?

The bigger problem would be AI takeoffs... but i'd like to taxi to from parking area to take off postion and then wait for clearance

As you can see from this quick experiment the carriers are already the correct size.

I agree, it's already the right size.

Rather then resizing the carriers, mabey a spawn point readjustment is whats needed?

Would be great to have more aircraft available for take-off. Talk about immersion. Wink

I believe that FC has some experience with the spawn points. You'll never get more than two columns though. The AI just can't handle more than that. With the windConfig mod, now you could taxi up to the catapult and get off with the carrier doing 31 Kts and a nice 15 Kt breeze. Big Grin

I know you can fix 14 to the carrier but any more would be great

I'm pretty sure that it is a limitation because of online play. The way it is now ensures that you can take-off any carrier plane from a static carrier. At least unloaded.

If you change that and set spawn points further up front people will lose that ability.

Well, carriers are indeed smaller than they should be. When you take off, then you see how narrow is the deck - very often wing penetrates the bridge Tongue Also compare size of crew to size of bridge, lifeboats or main guns. Carriers should be abut 1,5-2 times bigger than they are. Look at carriers in Battlefield 1942...

The CV's are fairly close to proper scale, if not very close. If you wing is hitting the CV conning tower..move to the left for takeoff like the AI does. Smile
