Good Idea.... Adds to the game but is easy (well not as hard as some) to make...

So many people are asking for miracles. Asking for aircraft to be built from scratch just using the parts from the aircraft in the game. So many people seem to be getting upset because Mr Jolly and team won't spend 200hrs of their free time making a plane that they like. We have no right to ask Mr Jolly and team anymore after what they've provided yet they still seam to take the best idea's and make them happen...

Thanks Modders

It was made, but the plane was a complete failure. It was heavier than a fully loaded b-17 and performance was horrible.

I dont think it would be worth it to make it.

I saw a photo of a B-17E with the nose of a B-24J and a B-24 tail turret. Looked truly ugly and, like the other experiments with defensive armament on the B-24 and B-17, was a failure. The YB-40 did ok escorting the bombers to the target area, but after bomb release, the heavily armed YB-40's could not keep up with the now much lighter B-17's. A similar modification was tried on the B-24, it was called the YB-41 and suffered the same ills as the YB-40.

actually, supposedly the b-24 turreted B-17 actually wasn't much worse than the normal -17. in fact, it had a higher cruising speed (but just barely), and had better lateral stability. go figure!

Here's the History Channel show about "Old 666"

(then Captain) Jay Zeamer on the mission that would earn him and bombardier Joseph Sarnoski a Medal of Honor, and every other member of the crew a Distinguished Service Cross.

History
By 1943 Old 666, serial numbers 12666, had suffered heavy battle damage and had gained a reputation as a cursed bomber, often coming back from missions with heavy damage. Grounded at Port Moresby Airport, it was parked at the end of the runway where other aircrews could cannibalize it for needed parts. A friend of Zeamer's said to him, "I know where there
