First of all, I'm not sure that this forum section'd be the right one...
Well, I'have done an I-153 Finnish Modification (from Blitz's mod-pack) default skin set, including alpha channels (see below):

Unfortunately, I've discovered with disappointment that all planes of this kind, old and new, point to the same 3Do folder (I-153), so all of them have same 3D model and default skin. You can change this skin, but it will affect all of Chaikas.
I haven't experience as modder, I've tried to create a new 3Do/plane/I-153_fin folder with inside a copy of original I-153 folder content and to edit the related file (3698B9DA6C0B1800) with notepad to make it point to this new folder, but the game even fails to start.
So, can a real modder modify it to make it work :?: ... Eventually, I can upload anyway this skin pack if somebody wants to install it despite this problem. Thanks to you all :!:

Yeah, I was dissapointed to discover this too. Same thing happens with all the new planes from Willy, plus the 2 default 109K's etc.

I have some sort of idea...isn't there planes with different default skins fpr different Nation (the likes of Betty, Mustang, Corsair, or - with different ILV skins - Hurri MkI)? Couldn't we make it like this for the I-153 as well? And, if we look for the file structure we can imitate that of the Hurri - just edited for the Chaika! How bout that?

Basically, it's the same problem... In this case, there are 2 different folders in 3Do/plane/, one called planename(multi1) and the other one planename(Nation). Each contains the same 3D model and hier.him file, only skins are different, but the game know, from another file inside, how to switch between them. I don't know how to exactly edit this file, I've already done 2 different folders without any result, maybe some skilled modders could do it. Any volunteer?

There is a problem with Blitz pack default skins indeed, as they are always a part of plane definition.
But whoever made the pack did forget about skin directories in PaintSchemes. One needs to create I-153_FIN, I-153_2BS and I-153_2SHKAS_BS directories and put sets of skins exclusive for each plane.

The problem is built into th IL-2 game default system. Try making seperate default skins for the Bf-109K-4 & Bf-109K-4C3. You will find that the C3 will use the K4's skin and won't accept another. Same for the 190ATA.

New default Finnish skins pack for the I-153 Chaika, for both summer and winter maps. It has been made for the new Blitz's I-153 Finnish Modification (ChaikaFIN) plane included in his mod-pack. As it replaces the original Russian summer and winter camos, it will affect all I-153s in game.
Just extract the zipped folder in your \files\ or \MODS\ folder inside main Il-2 1946 folder.

If you have kumpel's improved mod, summer and winter folders have to be extracted inside its I-153F folder replacing the original ones, and other Russian Chaikas remain with previous skins.
