Program is to different.... they all seem to be connected to licenece somehow.. yet the game is not even on my computer.. and the window pops up.

Yes the window pops up but that is all, nothing can be done with it.

The question was: did anyone who has the ToW and SFS extractor tried to open Il-2 SFSs?

I can use this to extract the SFS files from ToW (torrent download), but you can't make it open Il-2 files. I tried, trust me. It actually needs to be in a specific folder within the ToW file structure and will populate the file tree from the SFS files automatically so you can then pick from there what you want to extract, and it can only recognize the ToW file structure. It does nothing at all with the Il-2 files.

I told you so already, but i guess some people are just stubborn like that, they won't believe a guy until they try it and see for themselves. Even if they're told that jumping off the cliff is not a good idea, they just have to try it otherwise they won't believe it.

The other tool (TGA converter) will not work with my torrent ToW copy, it just crashes when i try to run it.

I also tried to use our (Il-2) SFS extractor on ToW files, it can't extract any. You see a bunch of hashed filenames, but it can't actually extract any.

By the way, if someone is curious about it, HERE is the torrent so you don't say i'm a salesman trying to sell you something.

The 3D models (vehicles, buildings, humans) are all really nice and would be a great addition to Il-2 if someone manages to port them over.

EDIT: i can't spell

The Files allready can be transfter to il2. The il2 extractor will work... its just the extractor must have the filenames. There both a bit different in how they extract and open.

Yep, all that and the ai routines. Ground battles in IL2 and sea battles are just not convincing at all as is.

If your using Firefox browser one of these add-on dictionaries https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/browse/type:3 can really help you...or at least it helps me, lest I be seen as a Firefox salesman  oh hang on it's free Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

Marketer of evil more over

Bring back Netscape Navigator!

Anyway, thanks for the pack willy. I just have one small suggestion, could you perhaps use mediafire or rapidshare perhaps? I had difficulties with getting that last file, due to ufortune.com stealing the page Smile

cheers for that mate - a great help Smile

Well I've never seen ufortune.com...but then again I use Adblock plus on my Firefox, mabey I can tempt you over to the darker side http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adblock

If not and for those who wish to remain with "the lesser evils" :? I've swapped all the stuff over to Mediafire and will use that from now on..or at least give it a spin till it falls over or whatever. It seems pretty good thanks for the suggestion Smile

Anyway don't be shy with the requests, I'll do them as I can and with any luck some of our almost 10,000 friends out there might have the gear and the intention to assist...you just never know.

The extractor uses a Filelist.txt , so "If youre not on the list you aint getting in"

I get the name from FMB+ , look it up with a search of static.ini to get file path

3do/etc....../live.sim
3d0/etc....../dead.sim

copy those in notepad and add using "Find Replace" (manually not replace all)
add live.msh, base.mat (base.mat will give a basic skin name)
you can take clues from any objects you may already have from that series

Could be skinHi.mat/tga s1, s2, s3 or skin1o skin1p skin1q.

backup the filelist in sfs extractor root and replace with the new one.

Finding damage skins and mats can take a bit more guess/detective work

Good tip thanks :!:

...need to give that a spin.

Could be an idea to start a "database" type of thread where any newly found entries cold be added...if that's not already been done?

Hi,

i'm posting some info on IMF format. I tried doing the raw reading of the IMF format.

This is sample from TOW.
Sample data for wintermap_09_a\minimap.tga

------------------------------------------------------
Data index| Size | Data | Meaning
------------------------------------------------------
1 |0x8 | 494D 461A 3130 0000 |signature (0000 can be also 0001, i think this mean's more bytes per pixel, 4bytes if 0001 and 3bytes if 0000)
2 |0x2 | 0002 |width (512)
3 |0x2 | 0002 |height (512)
--------- 12 bytes (header)---------------------------
4 |0x200 | X | count 512 X (count of height)
5 |0xc0000 | Y | 786432 bytes of data (count of RGB 262144 (24bits color))
---------- all = 786956-------------------------------

The raw data can be seen in irfanview in raw format viewing just put the 32bit format and set offset to raw data as header count (12) + height (x) and you will see how the real data is coded in data (image is sampled in multiple parts).
