I realize that this is sacrilege to ask, however, I am interested in adding a 5,000lb bomb to the B-29 in order to "simulate" the effects that an atom bomb might have on a city. The Pe-8 carries such ordinance.
I am familiar with dp editing in CFS but am not sure if this is possible without modelling.
Can it be done?
Can you point me in the right direction? Is it as simple as editing the weapons_ru file?
Any help is appreciated.
LOO your in luck in fact today i started work on that. I was gettign the B-269 files and all to make a new plane Simply >B-29 NB 1944< NB= Nuke Bomb So it maybe be added to co-op's or some thing. That way you can't just grab a b-29 in a on line server and nuke every 1.
Well glad to see someone is on that. I take it that it is not easy as txt editing or even simply 3D modeling? I guess I have been warned? Don't go where? Non-historic payload? Nukes? Enjoying the fruits of the folks that have worked hard to unlock a game that seemed unlockable? Which area is it that I should avoid?
I really just want to add a level of interest to my own personal missions. If I like making big booms with slow planes I can not see the harm it will inflict upon history... or the state of IL2 development.
Care to elaborate?
Thanks American. Let us know when and how even.
So technically what im doing is correct. Flight Model really is staying the same. the B-29 Used to Nuke Japan was just like any other. I might need some help further on tho. As soon as some one can give me there me and help me set up all these java tool's ill be doing alot better.
i'm unlocking this ....
fellow admins .... please, in the future post a note before locking or moving threads

In fact the Enola Gay and Bock's Car were not standard B29s. They were stripped of defensive armament to make them fast enough to outrun the bomb blast and to carry their payload- the first A bombs were quite heavy and large.
I don't know what other modifications may have been done besides that.
Nuclear carrying B-29's were known as the "silverplate modification" and it was in fact a series production of something like 36 planes. All weapons and armour was removed and substantial modifications were made to the bomb bay areas (fuel tanks added to the aft bay), mostly to accommodate the Fat Man style bomb, since the revised Little Boy style weapon could be accommodated in the standard B-29 bomb bay. A new crew station was placed in the cockpit to monitor the weapon and drop procedure. A new variant of the Wright R-3350 engine was fitted and reversable pitch propellers were included. Apparently these "silverplate" B-29's had vastly superior performance to the standard model.
Visually the obvious difference is no weapons or turrets. There is a long range reconnaissance variant of the B-29 which this looked identical to. Some USAAF heavy bomber/reconnaissance groups made a habit of overflying Japan in small numbers or as lone aircraft in the weeks leading up to the bombings.
Sweet. Now all we need is the that Ruskie 5000'er cloned & increased
+ 1 for a silverplate.
I think you would have better success if you posted this as a new thread.
no weapon mods unless new b29 slot made
if this done then add like a 50000kg bomb, that's a real nuke!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i 100% in support of nukes
love blowin crap out of grounded planes in pe8, a b29 super weapon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!VVUULLCCHHIINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
