(4.09)Alpha available ...Thailand/Burma/Indochina

It will definately not open in 4.08.... in 4.09 excellent it is OK, but the distance looks awful....you really need Perfect to enjoy this map.

I used to believe that if an Object was part of a map (ie.in the actors static) such as a new tree or something, and a person didn't have those files in his MODS, then it just simply would not appear...

but now I think it is the cause for maps not being able to save a mission.......

I think it must be Objects put into a mission file which will simply not appear, such as a new vehicle convoy.....I don't think it usually crashes the mission.

In the light of this you will need the following items from the download site:

Thailand map
invisible kronstadt plates
Treestextures
Thai_flag

I have also used upon my map certain items from the Flag pack mod

What do you guys think...should we only have standard objects upon the map......and leave the mission builders to place trees and shrubs and flags etc.??

what I will do today is to make a new actors static file...without any of the 'funny' stuff....apart from the invisible kronstadt plates used in the airstrips...and post it at my site for those who have problems to try

I'll post here when it is there for download

This is the only thing stopping me from trying this map. I am ready to do some AVG missions, just waiting on the new actors static file. This static bug continues to plauge great looking maps, I hope we get ti figured out soon.

I was busy all day yesterday trying to help work out the bug with the new Channel map....and I got it flying by removing the airfield points.....so the problem may not be the Objects and static.ini....but something else.....

I remember that when the Kwajelein map came out Fly_zo fixed the same problem of people not being able to save a mission ...buy fiddling with the airfield points

Getting the save problem here.

could it be this -

Quote:[buildings.House$FurnitureTreeLine1]
Title RowOfTrees1
MeshLive 3do/Tree/Line/live.sim //3do/Tree/Line_1/live.sim
MeshDead 3do/Tree/Line_W/live.sim //3do/Tree/Line_1/live.sim
Body WoodMiddle
Panzer 1.0

There was no folder for this in the downloads.

Tried to spoof it with a renamed folder, but still no luck.

Fabianfred,

The solution for the BoB map was a missing object.

I must say that this map will totally do the AVG justice compared the Burma garbage we were offered with the stock Burma map. I REALLY want to start working with this map.

I am willing to help in any way possible as far as testing, I am starting to gain a decent knowlege of the file structures and it seems to me that the save issues are congruent with missing a file here or there. I have been modding CFS3 for almost 4 years now. When it comes to modding CFS3, it only takes an improperly placed comma or quotation somewhere to bring the whole game to a grinding halt. From what I have seen with IL-2, it seems to be a bit more forgiving. For instance, in CFS3 if there is a missing object called for by the sim...CTD. In IL-2 if there is a missing object...it simply does not display it.

One thing I did notice while experimenting with Canon's BOB map was, the buildings would load on the map WITHOUT a static.ini file (provided the new objects are installed in the mods folder). The only thing the static.ini seems to controll is the appearance of these objects in the FMB object list.

Again, the IL-2 file structure is very new to me but I am learning. Again, I will help any way possible.

try the trees textures download at my site......I updated it to my latest version yesterday...and try my static.ini if you want which is there too (although that one doesn't have the canon map fix)

also there is the Thai Flag there...which I forgot.....put it with your PTO flags if you are using the flag pack

the channel map problem was that there was the Blister hanger actually missing from his bundle of stuff

if you have my latest trees textures folder then you have all the strange shrubs etc.......then get the Thai flag....and I used the union jack one on my map too (in Burma)

with the correct lines in your static ini having the Kolok as a clone set below ground...there cannot be anything strage or non-standard after that...

The strange thing was that with the Channel map yesterday....I only deleted the airfield waypoints...but left all the objects upon the map...and I could save and run it OK....??? very odd...as I didn't have the Blister then..!!

Fabianfred,

I would like to try and install this map but I am having a hard time figuring out exactly which files I need from your download site. Is there any way you could compile the needed files into a beta form similar to CanonUK's? There are simply so many different files on the download site I simply dont know what I need.

Thanks

Justin
