P-47 loadout- a request
#1

Modders-
Would it be possible to make a "new slot" variant of the P-47 that has the HISTORICALLY CORRECT ability to carry two 1,000lb bombs (one under each wing) and one 500lb bomb under the belly?
Nice too would be the ability for it to carry the smaller 250lb US bombs already in-game for the P-39. Big Grin
And- since I admittedly am dreaming here- can we make it so the 4.5" rocket tubes are jettisonable, as they were in real life?
Perhaps this "new slot" variant could be called "P-47D-23" since the only change from the -22 was a Curtiss prop, which I believe the in-game -22 already has...............

Just jugdreaming.......................................... 8)

This is not quite on topic, but it would indeed be nice if ANY of the aircraft with jettisonable rocket tubes could actually jettison them...

The Jug needs alot of work, but sadly due to the terms of AAA most are not going to happen.

One of my favorite planes too.

Actually it can happen if modded P-47 is added to new slot instead of doing modding on existing P-47.

Chaoic out...

That still defeats the purpose, pretty soon people are going to want all of them to have "another slot" to fix the aircraft.

I guess it could be a good loophole replacing all the aircraft with a close model, but the guys who know FM, DM and WM are not going to go for it.

It is possible to do as a new slot. The problem is, not if they would go for it, but more like will go for it when they have time.

There are several aircraft that need load out fixes. The SBD Dauntless series and the F4U-1/Corsair I and F4U-1A immediately spring to my mind as needing fixes.

The only thing as Magpie would probably be getting onto at some point is they'd be concentrating on new planes we don't have before making more versions of existing planes....

Saying that there are serious issues with the P47, I think I'm correct in saying that the P47 had more armour than the Il10 in game. (Hunin the FM specialist told me this when researching some FM's earlier) This is definitely not correct in the game the IL10 has way more armour!!

Chris I'm with you on this. It would be so nice. With all the wonderful working going on here maybe if we keep jugdreaming it'll happen one day...soon. I do think we are getting closer to a more realistic and better jug each day. With the new pit coming along nicely and the new sights it's getting tehre. Maybe some jug nut can take over and rework the weapons mods such as the 1000 lbers and rocket tubes. And one day maybe we can get teh 50's with proper API modeled.

StansDDS,
You are right on this, but if one simply looks at the HUGE loadout options of the F4U compared to the Jug, there is no comparison............... Confusedhock:
As far as the SBD I certainly would like to see it improved as well, but again, I doubt that as many folks fly it as the P-47 or F4U. SBD was a one-theater plane, the Jug saw action in the PTO, MTO, ETO and Esatern front (albeit in a very limited way)
But I do hope with you that in time these types receive their due as well.
Cheers-

I posted this before......still hoping:

"Ok, if we are talking of new planes for the slot, made from originals, I'd ask for the P-47N, with correct weapon loadout of 2x1000lb bombs strapped to the wings, with a 500lb bomb strapped to the belly. I'd also like the option of 150 Gallon drop tanks.
Info can be found here:

So hopefully this could be a future addition to the slot of the 'Jug Jockeys'

Cheers, SM"
