Map Thailand doesn't work work me (but english channel 40 work)

Ok, Ive got this map working and saving. I have used the following to get it to work...

Thailand map.rar
Thai Flag.rar
treestextures.rar
Fabianfred's static.ini
invisible kronstatd plates.rar
Flags mod

The only problem is, the new fabianfred static.ini mucks up my other maps and they wont save.

I'm at a bit of a loss over this static.ini problem

I can understand that, if the map maker has placed an object upon his map (in the actors static file) and it isn't listed in your static.ini or you don't have the folder in your MODS folder with its details, then the map will not save...

but I have just about every new and old map and my static.ini probably contains everything in the way of new objects.....trains...flags.....blisters.....trees...etc. so how this can be a problem I don't know

I know what you mean fabianfred, this is very puzzling and frustrating. I am continually checking a rechecking these files to try and find what is not working but come up blank every time. I think the more people we have working on this the more likely a solution will be. I will keep looking.

p.s. Wonderful map by the way! A bit thin on the buildings around Rangoon but wonderful all the same. The scenery is increadible! I cant wait for AVG missions on this one. If only we could get Kunming....Ill settle for Rangoon though! Tongue

...yes..the colours of the landscape in Asia are much brighter than in Europe .....I know the towns are all sparsly populated...I couldn't get Autopop to work for me 'cause I had trouble with the actors tools

I mainly wanted to get as much of Thailand as possible....and some of Indo-china for the little Thai/French war....and knowing I couldn't get much of Burma in...but someone asked for Rangoon which i managed to squeeze in

There are no roads or rail in Indo-China yet....not sure if I'll bother

The best thing is if you have the new long distance view with the 4.09beta and Perfect mode...as it is nice in the hilly terrain seeing them go off into the distance in layers.

This is a wonderfully scenic map fabianfred, I would love to see it developed and populated. Once we get this static.ini bug sorted I will be using it for sure.

Same here, Ive been toying arround with my static.ini and mODs folders for objects, and stuff, but no Joy still, havent been able to make your map compatible with Cannon.s Channel map. Still I wont give up hehe.

I used to believe that if an Object was part of a map (ie.in the actors static) such as a new tree or something, and a person didn't have those files in his MODS, then it just simply would not appear...

but now I think it is the cause for maps not being able to save a mission.......

I think it must be Objects put into a mission file which will simply not appear, such as a new vehicle convoy.....I don't think it usually crashes the mission.

In the light of this you will need the following items from the download site:

Treestextures
Thai_flag


I have also used upon my map certain items from the Flag pack mod

What do you guys think...should we only have standard objects upon the map......and leave the mission builders to place trees and shrubs and flags etc.??

Hi Fred,

Well you gave me another Song Kran this week end. Thailand was the first map that I tried to put in to the IL2 mods version. I could not believe it was such an easy process.
Still learning how to put in objects your trees etc.
During my spare time from teaching and study I am now very keen to learn how to re skin buildings etc. that would suit Thailand. There isn't much to choose from in the 4.9 objects list.
Would love to see an Aka hill tribe village, Thai farm houses and the exquisite wooden houses you see in the North.
I'd even be keen to populate my wife's village. Vun Mok a Chinese village about 90 minutes away from Chiang Rai towrds Chiang Kong.

Thanks for this Fabianfred but I am afraid I have to give up on this one. I have tried everything I know possible to get this map to save with no luck at all. I have added all of the objects mentioned in this thread, along with all of the static.ini entries mentioned and still can not get it to save.

Perhaps I will just wait for a more advanced beta or final version before I try this again. I am a huge fan of the AVG and this map is PERFECT for those types of missions. I am kind of heart broken really. I had set the weather to "good" and time to 18:30 and just looked around within the map and the sunset in the mountains is spectacular! This map and its increadible scenery are going to make some fantastic AVG missions....but not right now for me I guess. Sad
