QMBPlus

I've still got two distinct problems with QMBPlus. The problems do not seem related to each other.

1. Though we've been told, and Fly! seems to have shown with his conf.ini, I am still running into a limit in the number of maps I can display in the QMB pulldown. It seems that the hardcoded maps plus whatever maps I put into Custom0 to Custom13 are the ones that are loaded and show up in the QMB pulldown. My conf.ini excerpt is below:

[quick]
Custom0=Ardennes_S
Custom1=MTO
Custom2=The_Slot_07-43
Custom3=Balaton
Custom4=NWEurope
Custom5=The_Slot_10-42
Custom6=KhalkhinGol
Custom7=Bessarbia
Custom8=LAL_Lvov_autumn
Custom9=LAL_Stalingrad_Summer
Custom10=vp_Balaton
Custom11=The_Slot_10-43
custom12=Kiev
Custom13=LAL_Crimea_autumn
Custom14=sandsoftimevp
Custom15=The_Slot_07-43
Custom16=Prokhorovka

If I swap Prokhorovka from 16 up to 12 then it will load and Kiev will not (now in Custom16) So I seem to be running up against some map number limit. It does not matter what maps I swap in and out from the above list. From 14 on they are not loaded into the QMB pulldown and are thus not available.

I have read through this and other threads on QMBPlus and I cannot figure out why this is happening.

2. Problem two is I like others get the Data Corruption error when loading a quick mission. This same mission loads without a problem in FMB and plays, but will not do so without the data corruption error within QMB. I have attempted to be careful with correct names between All.ini, the mission file names themselves such as The_Slot_10-43BlueNone00.mis, conf.ini, and map.ru.properties. Yet I get this error on some sides and not others (I will get the error on a BlueNone.mis but not the RedNone.mis even though both files load within FMB and play without an error.

Maybe their is a minor MIS file content error leading to problem 2, but problem 1 seems to be up against a data loading or hard coded limit. I know FC has said the maps that you can use in QMB are limitless, but this is not my experience.

Any insights would be appreciated

I am/was having the Data File error.
Today I loaded the 'test' file into FMB, renamed it NorwayBlueAirbase00 and saved it and it worked!
Then I reloaded it into FMB and moved the flights closer to Banff airbase and saved it.
Went to QMB chose target 'Airbase' and it worked!!

Hope it helps

I tried to have more than 16maps in QMB and it works, I even made pictures and started to upload them when I spotted what is your problem. If I was looking more carefully I could avoid testing time :oops:

Look at this:

Custom11=The_Slot_10-43
custom12=Kiev
Custom13=LAL_Crimea_autumn

Can you see the difference between custom12 and Custom11 and 13 :lol:

Data corrupt error is generic error message and in your case it's either mismatch between mission name and map name or mission structure is not up to QMB requirement.

Remember, you can use any name for your Custom map, only thing that's important is that mission name matches that name, it doesn't matter which map you really use.

Example of Map-Mission pairs:

Map__________Mission Name

Test___________TestRedNone00
IHateMilk_______IHateMilkRedNone00 etc.

In both cases you can make missions on Smolensk map for example.

If your names are correct than it's best to make simple test mission, I did that at least once in this thread. Just make 4 flights for each side and try that mission. If that works than go to mission that doesn't load and find the error.

Case Sensitive! Crimey! I never would have guessed it, but there it is. I fixed the case and the problem went away.

Thank-you again FC, for the great QMB for we lazy mission builders , your tech support, and above all patience with our follies as we stumble over what is right in front of us.

FC Wrote:Hi, couple of tips and preview of new version of QMBPlus.

As you probably know new version of wrapper.dll is out and that makes mods more user friendly.
With old wrapper we had to put QMBPlus files into files folder and all QMB missions into files/Missions/Quick folder and than write all paths for missions into filelist.txt .

With new wrapper things are much simpler.
First you have to make folder Mods into your Il2 folder, you probably have that folder already for your other mods. Than you need to make there new folder, you can name it as you wish but for example we will use name QMBPlus.

In that folder you put QMBPlus files and add folder Missions/Quick and put mission files there.
Filelist.txt is not needed any more.

But there is a third, the best, way of installing QMBPlus. Thanks to Ogden who made me think
I made it even more user friendly.

Here is how it goes.

1.Step
There is folder Missions in your Il2 folder. It have couple of subfolders like Campaign, Net, Single.
Make another sub folder there and name it Quick.

2.Step
Put all of the QMB missions there. Now you can acess all of the QMB missions through FMB, you will see later why is that important.

3.Step
Put QMBPlus files( those with funny names ) into Il2/Mods/QMBPlus folder.

That's all, you can now play all of the QMB missions.

HOW TO ADD NEW MAPS AND PREWIEV OF NEW QMBPLUS

This is how you are going to work with QMBPlus2.0

1.Step
Add new map into conf.ini. I'll add two maps this time, Palau and BAttack. In my conf.ini it looks like this:
Code:
[quick]
Custom0=NWEurope
Custom1=MTO
Custom2=Bessarabia
Custom3=Lvov
Custom4=Prokhorovka
Custom5=Palau
Custom6=BAttack

2.Step
Start the game and open QMB, you will find new maps on the bottom of the list. Of course you can't
play on them until you make template missions for them.
[Image: th_17374_grab0001_122_411lo.jpg]

3.Step
Well, let's make basic missions for new maps. To do that you have to go to Full Missions Builder. This is now possible to do from QMB!!! Click on FMB button.
[Image: th_17587_grab0002_122_190lo.jpg]

4.Step
Now you are in FMB and now pick Palau map from the list.
[Image: th_17657_grab0003_122_1096lo.jpg]

5.Step
Make simple mission with 4 flights per side. You can't make less than for flights for both sides
because that will not work.
[Image: th_17748_grab0008_122_401lo.jpg]

6.Step
Save your new mission. You need to use Save As option.
[Image: th_17839_grab0009_122_1084lo.jpg]

7.Step
Save new mission into Quick folder under the name PalauRedNone00, that is a must. On some PC you will not be able to play on new maps if there is no RedNone mission for that map.

[Image: th_17895_grab0010_122_365lo.jpg]

You can save same mission again under different name, I'll do just that and save it as PalauBlueNone00

[Image: th_17982_grab0011_122_806lo.jpg]

8.Step
Exit FMB and you will find yourself in QMBPlus again, choose Palau map and select target None for red or blue and press Fly, Palau mission will be loaded.

OK, that was simple but what with BAttack map, there is no such map in game. That doesn't matter, you can
use any name you like and I used BAttack because I want to make mission where Germans attacking Allied bombers.

Go to FMB again. This time I used Berlin map.

1.Step
Add 4 flights for each sides, I started with blue

[Image: th_18076_grab0015_122_629lo.jpg]
[Image: th_18081_grab0016_122_565lo.jpg]

2.Step
I will save this as BAttackRedNone.00 in Quick folder

[Image: th_18173_grab0017_122_61lo.jpg]

This is my basic mission for this map. Important to say is that QMB engine can manipulate with 4flights
per side, that makes 16 as maximum number of planes per side. But that's not the end of story, you can add more planes into mission but their properties will be fixed,you will not be able to manipulate with this planes through QMB.

3.Step
Now I will add 4 flights of bombers for red side. I have to be careful now because I will not be able to change their properties in QMB. I choosed to set them at 5000m. Every time I play this mission they will be at that altitude.

[Image: th_18175_grab0017b_122_784lo.jpg]

I saved it now as BAttackBlueNone00 mission.

4.Step
Exit FMB and now customize your mission. As bombers are at 5000m I selected Altitude 4000m to put Axis planes at lower alt at start. In Situation window I selected disadvantage and selected Diff. of 2000m,
that will put Allied planes at 6000m.

This way I have Allied escort at 6000m, bombers at 5000m and Axis fighters climbing into attack from 4000m.

[Image: th_18238_grab0018_122_564lo.jpg]

5.Step
Press Fly and enjoy biggest mission you ever played in QMB.

[Image: th_18351_grab0031_122_1103lo.jpg][Image: th_18356_grab0032_122_1189lo.jpg][Image: th_18361_grab0033_122_647lo.jpg][Image: th_18367_grab0034_122_827lo.jpg]
[Image: th_18373_grab0035_122_111lo.jpg]

I expect that new version will be out this week, If somebody want to test it in current state of development PM me. Experienced user have priority and I expect them to come with some tips and trick for new users after testing.

Comments and suggestions are welcomed.

Hello FC,

I read writing you about QMB editing. But when I would fill the map announces this: WRONG TARGET SELECTED
Why this is???

Hi fatcat, thanks for your great utilility, something which should of been in from the start, it really is great.

I've been messing around creating missions for myself for malta , the slot and the channel, all of which is good and is working 8) , but sometimes i've done stuff, and it hasn't worked.

Do you know what limitations are in place, such as, are you limited to the number of weypoints? Does every flight have to land at the same base? Are you limited to any objects other than planes that you can put in, ie stationary objects, moving objects etc... Can you set a flight to escort another??

Really keen to know how flexible this is, and how far we can bend it.

I've read this thread through and through but I'm still not having any luck getting "none" missions to work with the new Slot or Libya maps-the maps open and the missions save OK in FMB+, and I added them to my custom list in my config.ini. They show up on the map list in QMB, but when I try to load a "none" mission, I get an error message reading "data file corrupt".
The pre-made blue and red none missions for the Slot work, but the front lines are backwards, I wanted to make my own.

When mission doesn't work it's most likely typo in names of map or mission and only limitation inside the mission is 4 flights per side is a must. You can have more than that but not less.

If you have more than 4 flghts, 6 for example you will control first four through QMB menu and last 2 will be always as they are set in mission.

You can see that in tutorial I posted before.

Let's say that you have line for slot in conf.ini like this
Custom9=Slot

Go to FMB and open the map you want. Set 4 flights for both sides, make it simple, 4 flights with two waypoints each. Save mission as

SlotRedNone00.mis

Mission must be in xxx/Missions/Quick folder , xxx is your main mission folder and it can be different for every user.

Go to QMB, select Slot from the map list, select red side and target None. It must work.

Another option for you is to make backup of existing Slot missions and than edit and modify mission that works to suit your needs.

Any chance for adding Canon's new BoB map to QMB?

QMB is user configurable so you can add any of old and new maps in QMB.

2xQMB Missions for the Slot, works fine:

Most common error I've run into is that player checkbox isnt selected in the appropriate flight(FMB).

Yeah that's nice but I don't know how to do it. Someone else has to.

Note, this asumes that you have already installed the map and can use it in FMB

Ok, first you will need these two files

http://files.filefront.com/ChannelBlueN ... einfo.html

http://files.filefront.com/ChannelRedNo ... einfo.html

These are the two mission files.

These need to be put in:

E:\il-2 mod 4.09\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\Files\Missions\Quick.

note, your need to change that to your il2 install path.

Then you need to edit your config.ini as shown below,

[quick]
Custom0=NWEurope
Custom1=MTO
Custom2=Bessarabia
Custom3=Malta
Custom4=Channel
Custom5=Slot

As you can see its 'Channel'

This is found in your il2 1946 root directory

Then you need to add these 2 lines to your filelist.txt

Missions/Quick/ChannelBlueNone00.mis
Missions/Quick/ChannelRedNone00.mis

This is again in the root directory.

And that should be it.

Be aware, that i have addded some aa generally along each coast, plus at homebases, along with a cap flight of 3 spits between ashford and canterbury, and 4 110's above st omer to drag and bag to if need be!

If your really lazy you can download these

http://files.filefront.com/channel+109q ... einfo.html
http://files.filefront.com/channel+spit ... einfo.html

and put them in your

E:\il-2 mod 4.09\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\Quicks

folder, and you have the ready made 9 spit's v 8 109's you saw in the screenshots above, which you can load from the QMB screen.

Hope this helps,

fruitbat

Thanks, I went back and tried again and got them working, so as you said I must have had some sort of typo in either the mission name or the map name in my config.ini.
Unfortunately, while I was trying to figure this all out I decided to use winmerge to combine all of my .ini files and put them all in my STD folder- all buildings, objects airfields, etc. are now no longer loading, so all of my maps are empty of everything but the landscape itself!
Looks like I'll have to go back and start again from scratch, with a fresh Il2 folder and install all of the mods again (sigh)...
