Hello, I am just new in flight simulators. I bought IL 2 sturmovik 1946. I can install the game, and the game start.

But I want at least the 6 DOF mod, so I can use my freetrack profile. Well, I have read you tutorials, but the game doesn't start, when I install any mod.

The first time I installed the game, and then I installed the following files in the order:

MOD_Activator_v5_IL2_4_08.exe
English_Career_Language_Fix
ENG_Sound_mod_Version_093.exe
wrapper.exe
AC_INSTALLER_v2_1.exe
IL2_6DOF_Mod_v2_0_sHr.exe

And the game could not start. I launch the new .exe, I can see the loading screen version 4.08m "MOD ENABLED", but then it comes back to windows without errors (the DVD is inside).

I disinstalled the game. Reinstalled the game, it works fine. Then I installed again the files in the following order:

MOD_Activator_v5_IL2_4_08.exe
IL2_6DOF_Mod_v2_0_sHr.exe

The game didn't start....same issue as before. I tried adding

il-2_sturmovik_wrapper_patch.exe


but the game doesn't work.

I want at least 6 DOF support. But I would appreciate also sound and graphics improvement mods....anyway, when I install the mod activator the game is KO.

Help please!

Did yOu patch 1946 to 4.08m?

If not, it is here and must be installed before any mod.

Also, I think you need to install one or the other of these, not both.:
MOD_Activator_v5_IL2_4_08.exe
or
ENG_Sound_mod_Version_093.exe

The first one is to be used if you want the mods but no new sounds, the second if you want new sounds in addition to mods you add on.

I am downloading. But I thought that IL 2 Sturmovik 1946 was already the latest official patch. Anyway, the MOD starter didn't say that it was not the correct version....is it normal?

I hope the patch you linked will fix the problem.

Try,
1. add 4.08m and open game, should say 4.08m in lower left corner of load screen.
close game

2. pick the mod activator you want, 093 (for new sounds and ability to add mods) or the mod activator 5.0( for mod activation only, no new sounds)
Open game after installing to see if all is well.
close game

3.Install 6dof mod and open game to see if all is well.
Hopefully, play game with no problems

SFX 0.6 is good for mods as well, jsut don't go for 0.7beta, that doesn't support mods.... yet...

All is ok! I have 6 DOF, I also installed the other mods and the game seems to run without problems.

But there are still some things that I would like to improve.

The resolution is up to 1280x960: I have a 1280x1024 monitor, and the games has a little vertical stripe cut off on the left (1024 - 960 = 64 pixels of stripe). How do I fix it?

And then: how can I improve the graphic to the best level? I saw there is a mod for reflection on the airplanes, and also some detailed cockpits. But what about textures, world detail etc...?

Resolution fix...

Go to you IL-2 "Root Folder" and double-click on conf.ini It should open in notepad. At the top find:

I am having trouble as well, i installed il 2 1946 a while ago and i decided to get the b17 mod for it...

I got the mod activator and downloaded b17 mod but now when il 2 starts it goes to russian and stops loading AND CRASHES at 5% loaded!!
