im using my friends computer for the moment and i tried to put it into perfect mode but it wont work
all i get is a black sea/ground and i only see the plane and the airfields
its a radeon x1650 512mb with 1gb of ram and a P4 3.4 ghz processor
if anyone can help it would be great thanks leigh

From my expirience with the 'black' it comes down to the fact that you are pushing your rig to the limit. You have 1 gb of memory, which in my opinion is too little. I had a 7900gtx & used to get this effect on heavy maps. I increased my memory to 4gb ( 3gb should be the max if your on xp),this solved the problem & i would only get this effect 'rarely' or 'once in a while' on very heavy maps. I also went through all the drivers......
I then got an 8800gt........all the problems solved, this is a miracle card. :wink:
So, if i where your friend i would either fly on lower settings or accept the fact that your going to have to slowly upgrade.
Maybe someone can advice you better, my knowledge is limited to what happened in my scenario.

well it wont flicker it goes complety blaqck and on my old machine i had a 6800 and 512 and i could go perfect but it would be really laggy
all good now
i had conf.ini problem and got a squddie to send his over and its in perfect mode now
