Just a thought for some mod sharpie

Asssuming a perfect install of il2 from your very own 1946 dvd and patched to 4.08 where you fly in perfect harmony with God & shoot down everything is sight...

Now you make a decision to try out these dandy mods....

You only want the fantastic sound of the new sounds for now....

You found throughout the AAA forum these various mod must do's...

Could someone be kind to us "computer challenged" bothersome souls and put them in order, and explain which ones just go directly into the main directory only, and which ones should be busted apart & little pieces be gently pasted into this place & that...(naming this place & that)

1) Primary MOD_Activator_5_1_il2_4_08.exe

2) English_Career_Language_Fix.rar

3) Sound Mod 9.0 Or 9.2 or 9.3

4) Wrapper.exe

5) AC Installer v2.1.exe

6) 409_MOD_b1m.exe

7) MODS_4_409b1m_New_.zip

If I have left anything out please catch my unintensional mistake & add it...

You will forever be hailed as "DA MAN"

All you want is the sounds for 4.08?

Then all you need is quite simply;

1) Sound mod of choice.
2) English fix.

After that, should you wish to upgrade,

3) Wrapper

and then the mod of choice.

O.K. i guess I worded that wrong....

first the sounds then wahatever is needed to get the graphics & maps & a few other mods...
Not knowing what these mods actually do I have no Idea which ones to get next...from posts all over this site there seem to be others who are equally confused as I...

Well I suggest reading the description for the mod... After the initial mods - ie those listed above - it comes down to what you wish to have.

I'm not going to write you a shopping list, so if thats what you're after you'll just have to wait until someone else with time to loose comes by, but the best advice I can give you is simply browse the forum.

BUT putting your list above into a order of what to do;

1) Get sound mod of choice - or, should you wish not to have the sounds; simply the mod activator.
2) English fix
3) wrapper (needed for all mods)
4) 4.09 modded + mod switcher (needed for most of the new maps)
5) aircraft installer
6) mod of choice
7) mod of choice
8) mod of choice
9) mod of choice
10) mod of choice
11) mod of choice
12)...

I suggest, if you aren't terribly 'computer savy' I would recommend sticking to mods which are installed by a .exe (ie all offical mods, avoiding those still in Beta stage). These will install to the correct directory. As a rule of thumb almost ALL mods are installed in the MODS folder located in your Il2 directory.

For further advice I recommend you RE-read vpmedia's thread here.

Well, you solved the problem that I was having. I was stuck on installing 409b1b. and Mods 4 409b1b when all I had to do was install the mod switcher. Now all maps show up & it works..
Install for beginners makes no mention, that I picked up on anyway, of installing the mod switcher..

BTW...Has anyone from a clean dvd install of 1946 + 4.08m been able to get the game working up through the Slovikia map by just downloading and installing as per the Beginners instruction?

I never did! now I Dl'ed & installed the 4.09 plus switcher & it all works just fine.

I wasn't looking for a shopping list...the mods are well listed...but what I was looking for was a proper flow of things required to get the game up and running.

you provided that procedure...

Regards and thank you..
