QMB Maps question
#1

I already asked this question elswhere, but perhaps I was in the wrong area to get an answer...so, thought i'd try here...

Is there anyway to change the sequence of order in the way the QMB maps load in the game?

for instance...Okinawa is always first on top & Slovikia is next to the bottom.

I would like to put Slovikia & a couple of others to default into the 1, 2, 3 position.

I haven't been able to even find the QMB maps...where are they?

Thanks in advance...

Hmmm...Thought sure someone would know how to do that...I guess it just can't be done. oh well...

Well, when using modded QMB you can add a section into the game's main conf.ini, like this:

[quick]
Custom0=Crimea
Custom1=Okinawa

So that'll keep Okinawa map at the bottom of the list.

All your QMB missions go into Missions/quick folder.

save some missions, load those instead selecting flights, skins, etc each time

LSA...I did that, but it does nothing to change the maps order in QMB
I know where the saved quick missions are saved (quick folder), but I think I need to find where the the map files are stored that go into the QMB selection area.. Thats where I believe the order needs to be changed.

I never use those island maps..Don't like them...so I hate having them on top...lol.. it really bugs me..but I just can't find where they are hidden.

No, the order is set in [quick] section only. You just put exactly the same names as your desired maps folders (whether modded or not). Say, if your map folder named as My_Land_Map, then you should put My_Land_Map entry in the conf.ini as well

I think the order is set in some primary file first then in [Quick] section of conf.ini.

I tried to put Online4Summer (aka Netmountains) in first place and nothing happens. The map is included inside the QMB plus (doesn't show on [quick] section of Conf.ini normaly) in some 6 or 7 position, if I remember correctly and stays there no matter what.

There are QMBPlus and QMBMinus, in QMBPlus some maps are hardcoded inside the engine and you can't change that without working in Java code.

QMBMinus is fully customizable by user, only map set in conf.ini are visible in map window of QMB.

Oh yes, I meant QMBminus... Big Grin Switched to it long time ago and just couldn't imagine there's someone still using QMBplus version [joking]

yeah, by adding those maps into the [Quick] section all I did was get some maps to show up in the QMB twice.....
Oh well, That java stuff is waaayyy beyond me...Guess I'll just have to live with it...

So why not to use QMBminus? No unwanted maps, some extra control options, direct FMB call and no java stuff...

OK, PapaG39, look here but QMB Minus does not enter the discussion until page 7.

Edit: I am also interested in dumping some maps so I read the rest of the pages and would advise proceeding very carefully with the install of QMB Minus.

I am not sure what one must do with the QMB Plus already installed and, as I have it finally working properly, I am not going to mess with it right now.

If you go for it, be sure to backup so if things go wrong you can get back to a working QMB.

Edit #2: Hey LSA, can you post some sort of walk through of how to make QMB Minus work, or at least what we need to do with regard to the QMB Plus install?

It would be much appreciated because the info in the linked topic is really sparse.

Well, it was pretty long time ago... I downloaded QMBMinus, unzipped it into my Mods/QMBPlus folder (or whatever you call it), added [quick] section to the main conf.ini and got QMBMinus working. Then I had to make some corrections to the i18n/gui_ru.properties and also make some quick mission templates for my maps. You can read QMB topic from this point and see what to do Smile

Hmmm...I read all the way through to the end (16) & sounds like a whole lot of confusion...lol..

So far I am modded to 4.09b1m on the startup screen with the "1946" in the center of it.

I do not have the QMBPlus installed, so I would only be installing the QMBMinus.

You mentioned that you had to make some corrections to the i18n/gui_ru.properties
What would those corrections be?

Then I guess I would go into the FMB and have 16 blue and 16 red aircraft going from point - A to point - B

Then I see as the next hang up is exactly how to name the FMB file and where to save it is a big thing...lol..

Is that fantastic "How to" that you created on page 14 or 15 of the 16 page thread still valid or have some changes been made to it?

My main game play is the QMB so this sounds like just what I need to recharge il2 for me..

I quit the hyperlobby a couple of years ago & am not interested in long boring missions. Coops are no good because I usually get shot down immediately, so that is a complete waste of time.

If the ships in il2 would react to bombs/torpedos as they do in silent hunter then the pacific maps would be-a-hoot..., but they don't, so I lost interest bombing ships..

At least with the QMB I can quickly restart & blunder around the sky again....lol..
