[DOWNLOAD TOUR 1] (Slot) VMF-213 Hell Hawks Campaign
#16

Here is an Example Briefing again:

Note it is now Broken up in Three Sections, The Chalkboard, Orders, and War Diary.

The Chalkboard is simple information a Pilot might see written up on the board such as the weather and time.

The Orders section is about a Paragraph and give you your mission objectives and parameters.

and my favorite,

The War Diary are exact copies of the REAL vmf-213 War Diary, and will tell you as it was written then, what happened on that day, and on that mission for VMF-213 in real life during world war two.

Here is an example, this is the seventh mission of the campaign. Note the story in the War Diary about Lt. DeFabio and what he had to deal with while over Munda!

As some of you might have assumed, This Campaign is Temporarly on HOLD while I finish my Korean War OJ Map.

Note:

All Research is Complete
All Templates are Complete
All Briefings are Written

All I have left to do was make missions, 4 of 32 missions have been made.

The point of telling you all this is that when I polish up the Korean War OJ map it wont take me long to complete this Campaign.

I cannot describe to you how much I need a good campaign for the Slot map! I have this map on my harddrive for several moths now, but haven't played it very much yet. I wanted to save the sensation of exploring this new world for a new campaign. I find that once I know a map in IL2 the imersion tends to get much less..
I did not think it would take this long however before a campaign for the slot would be released.
Furthermore I love your eye for detail: those screenshots look amazing!
So, in short: could you finish this campaign first? Please?

LOL yeah I will!

Since I made that previous post I have recevied PM's, E-mails, and talks from my squadmates asking that I seriouly consider finishing this campaign first, especially since most of the work is done, and someone actually sent me the squadron after action reports.

It was cool however too hear the outcry! *Chuckles*

*Gets back to work on this campaign*

For sure we are grateful to modders who make new maps, new ships, new planes, etc. But these mods really take their full dimension once missions, skins and campaigns are available for users to enjoy them all! I am particularly interested to play a campaign which uses together the Slot map and LAL R-One's hangars!

By the way, you will be able to upload all your campaigns which use mods, at M4T. The new policy at M4T allows this now since yesterday, provided strict rules are followed by the authors.

More Historical Photos

There photos are from another VMF-213 Website, you may visit it at this link:

Picture captions are also from above website.

Marine Corsair pilot 1st Lt. Wilbur J. Tomas of El Dorado, Kansas, who knocks down Jap planes in bunches flying his Corsair, became an ace recently when he added up a score of seven enemy planes shot to smithereens. On June 30, Lt. Thomas bagged four Zeros and on July 6, he tallied three more. His most recent kill came over Kolombangara Island as he and a wing man battled seven Jap twin engine bombers and a group of escorting Zeros.

America can be thankful for such an aerial battler as Capt. James H. Cupp who is a fighter plane pilot. This Leatherneck Corsair flier has been on combat duty in the Solomons for several months. And what a record he has established for himself! In only three days of air fighting, Capt. Cupp shot down five of Tojo's planes. That's the kind of stuff this Leatherneck brought from his home in Fairfield, Iowa.

Understanding the History

This post is more for those whom are not familur with what had happened in the Solomon Islands after the fall of Guadalcanal, which is the setting for this campaign. This is one of the best short summaries out there and should give everyone perspective on the situation.

(The following summary of situation is taken verbatim from ( http://dwp.bigplanet.com/johnl123/overvi...&UID=10016 ) A VMF-213 memorial Website that was used in the research segment of this campaign. Without this Website I would have never met Dan MacAnarney, or retained a copy of Lt. Winnia's Diary, or the Squadron After-Action Reports.)

[quote]Overview: VMF-213 and the Solomon Islands Campaign

The Solomon Island Campaign

The Solomon Island offensive against the Japanese was but a part of an overall offensive plan stemming from earlier events and designed for a larger objective. In early May 1942, five months after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, the United States laid the foundation for their counter-offensive in the naval engagement, the Battle of the Coral Sea, in which the U. S Navy stopped the advance of the Japanese in their attempt to invade Port Moresby, located on New Guinea
