How can you make a cockpit reskin?
#1

Well I looked in C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\Files\3DO\Cockpit, and all I see is one plane, the P-40B. I'm assuming this is where the reskin files go, since I downloaded a BF-109 cockpit reskin and the files ultimately lead there. But how do you make the files? Where do you start off from? Is there any tutorial or guide on how to make a custom reskin? Well, thanks for reading my post.

.... get sfs extractor (Tim's tools).... extract all your fb_3doxx.sfs files (game root) in one folder .... you'll get all files and proper structure ....

if you know file names and structure .... make filelist.txt ( of sfs extractor) just for those files ... so extracting will be quicker ...

Ok I got all the YP-80A files now. But I can't seem to open almost any of the TGA files. And I don't have a program to unpack the mat and msh files. Can you please tell me what to do now?

Yeah I already tried that, I kinda figured it was connected to my problem, but I didn't know for sure, now I do. But it seems that Vista x64 doesn't really like that program since it just gets an error when I run it. So I guess I'm screwed huh? Sad

You are not screwed, you need net framework and some other stuff for it to work. And there is another way to see them, somewhere in the forum, I'm afraid that you must search and read a lot Big Grin

But results will be nice ...

as Avala said ....

set every of those tga's as loading splash screen ( one at the time) .... start game .... print screen ... past in graphic editor .... resize 512x512 (1024x1024) .... make changes .... save under original name ( 32bit tga alpha channel enabled) . If tga have transparent parts (layers), you need to make them manually .

...or install net framework ( and maybe java) to get converter to work

good luck
