Sea Hurricane & Sea Gladiator ?
#1

The addition of a tail hook to the Gladiator MkI and to the Hurricane MkI & II would be a dream come true for those trying to simulate the med theatre (even if it was not visible).

Its not very 'glorious' but it would be very useful and incredibly appreciated if anyone has been working on this aspect of the sim .... (I saw a 109E altered with one somewhere... )

This was posted a little while ago and seems like a realitively easy modification (it's probably harder than it appears). Could the hook from the Seafire be used to make the Hurricane and/or Gladiator capable of landing on an aircraft carrier. That would certainly open up some very interesting missions and campaigns. The existing FMs could be used and no weapon changes would be necessary. I believe that's a plus.

Please give serious consideration to this modification. Also please give these "new" aircarft new slots (additional aircraft like the Spitfire I).

Thanks ... Bob

Already being worked on, have been for months. FYI tail hook additions are NOT simple. They, like all, will obviously have their own slot. Particularly considering that hooks require FM edits.

Dont forget you have to change the Fm to slow them down a bit. The extra drag + Egine modification hurt the plane. they get different parts to stand the salty smelling air.

Its not hard at all to take off and land on a carrier with a Gladiator. Just give it a nave skin and there ya go.

Off a CVE?

Appreciate the responses and as usual, things that seem simple are much more difficult than they first appear.

Also, I know that when an aircraft is reworked for carrier operation (more than just take offs) that it generally lowers the plane's performance. This is usually due to increased weight (additional equipment) and more drag (if nothing else from the tail hook). In this case I didn't think the drop in performance would be significant as we are not adding folding wings ... which noticeably add weight and drag.

It would be a plus if the new Sea Hurricane IIC could be setup to carry the same bomb load as the Hurricane IIB. I've never understood why the IIC can't carry bombs in the current sim.

Thanks

I know you can T/O and land a Hurricane without a tailhook but, it's just not the same.
Now that we have a RN CVE, any efforts would be appreciated to get us a Sea Hurricane. Thanx.
