Great work Forager! I almost got started on this just before you posted your first part, but ran into difficulties copying all my downloaded mod and patch files. Fortunately these instructions came around in the mean-time. I had read all ov vpmedia's isntructions and felt that I understood them, but it looks like I may have run into trouble.

One quick question - my 1946 install is about a year old, and has already been patched up to 4.08. I've never installed any mods, but I have installed missions and campaigns. Should I be OK starting the mod process on this install, or should I start fresh with a new install from DVD?

It's probably best to install the beta patch 4.09b as well- many of the new maps won't work in 4.08 because they use new objects and textures that came with the 4.09 patch.

Outstanding! I just went through parts 1, 2, and 3 in just over an hour (my downloads were already finished), and I had absolutely zero problems. Or, so it seems so far - I've only run one quick mission in the MTO map. I tried a quick mission on another new map (can't remember which) and was booted back out to the QMB page. Perhaps that means I need to download some missions for that particular map?

Nice work Forager!

Well, what happened was that as soon as I clicked "fly", another screen came up with the option to select mission type, and there wasn't anything there, so I just clicked on "OK" or whatever, and it just dumped me back to the main QMB screen. No message. Maybe I jsut didn't do something right - this was the first time I have ever seen that second screen.. But, there were no choices to select in that "mission type" box, if that's a clue.

But yes, it went perfectly smoothly, and I was able to set up a number of other quick missions and enjoy the new sounds and aircraft.

Strange, I have never seen that screen either.

Yes, all the maps show in the QMB. I'll have to go back and check on the quick folder tonight when I get home.

Thanks and also please check the Full Mission Builder too, ok?

Most of us will never use it, lucky for us there are so many great mission and campaign builders who do, but the maps need to be there anyhow if install went perfectly.

The maps are in the FMB - I checked that. I'll get back to you on the QMB, if I can get the kids to sleep on time tonight...

Apparently the second screen I came across was due to me hitting the "load" button in the QMB. The only problem I am having now is the "wrong target selected" warning, which you mention in your isntructions can be solved by dowloading quick missions for that map. I'm off to look for some...

Just to add to this whole revised install - I installed several more mods tonight with no problem, including the modpack mentioned by vpmedia (the collection of "smaller" mods) and the 6DOF mod for the Trak IR. So it appears everything is in order quite well if you follow this revised process.

Still can't find any quick missions for the new maps though - looks like all that is available are single missions? (I admit I didnt look very hard- it's late here)

Look in the last two links above, those go into the Quick folder in Missions folder.

They are not actual missions but they allow you to make missions in QMBPlus when you select a map , mission type and add planes to all flights.
