BETA - Battle of France - Part 1 (4.09)

asheshouse Wrote:Thanks Auto. Your blurred version is an improvement. Map_F either way because the resolution of the land/water boundaries is not sharp enough. Not much can be done about that.
I think I might also darken the map_F by adding some darker green pixels to the land before blurring.
The sea in your screenshot looks very blue compared with what I see on screen.
I also notice the texture error around Calais-Marck airfield (Part 3 area), which will need correcting.

Your welcome Ash, I've decided to darken my map_F's in future projects with a blue tint as in
reality things tend to lighten with distance with a blue tint while fading in detail. As for the
water color you will have to experiment until you get that perfect. The color you see in the
image editor will never be the color you see in the game for several reasons, mainly the
color blends at the edge. Any way I am glad I could help.

Didn't really solve it, problem happens when typeclouds=0 (my default). So I switched to typeclouds=1 (more demanding , less fps) and the problem was gone.
Still don't get it, what is different with my game and your game, lol and perdition..lots of beer

Just tried setting up a simple interception mission with HurriMIs v He111s- after returning to base, the tower refused to let the planes land (as player aircraft I asked for and got permission to land).
I'm a real newbie at mission building, any ideas why this might be? I wondered if it might be because I did'nt set the elevation of the field in the mission ( it's somewhat over 2000 ft elevation).
Can not having fields at sea level cause issues?

Murph -- Can you tell me which airfield it was and what the direction of approach was.

I have problems at Wiltz with AI landing approach from the east. Landing approach from the west is ok at Wiltz.

There are problems where there are significant changes in ground level under the approach path. I think the AI monitors its position within the required approach path by checking its height above ground. If the ground level changes to quickly the aircraft "loses" the approach path and defaults back to the start of the circuit, and then performs endless loops.

It may be possible to fix this by smoothing the ground under the approach path.

I was thinking, maybe in the future, and maybe with help from mission builder community we'll have some castles on the map too...

Airfield was St Hubert, landing approach from the west.
Edit; Just tried the mission again, and this time two out of three landed OK. The other may have been battle damaged. In fact one of the flight, which was trailing smoke, disobeyed the tower and landed anyways.
Odd the different outcomes to the same mission, but I'm happy to report that it probably has nothing to do with the map.

Thanks Murph. I'll look at it again just to be sure.
My original checks were done using the Ju52.
Its possible that other aircraft might perform differently, but I found generally that if the Ju52 could do it then Me109's had no problemsm so I would guess that the Hurricane should be ok.

Very nice map asheshouse. Quite an acomplishment!
Towns and villages are really very nice. Especially, the scenery along the river Semois was almost like real 8)

Frames on my rig are good (constant 50-60 with Vert. Synch.) except for the biggest city (Charleroi), where framerates drop dramatically tot 8 fps when fully zoomed into the city.
I have a recent rig: Intel dual Core 6850, G92 8800 gts and 4 gig Ram.
Did a lot of search trough the net to find a solution, but no luck...
Anyone experienced the same problem?
I wonder if it can be fixed ...

I just can't seem to get the map working... probably sounding like a newbie, but bear with me, I'm new at this. When I try loading the map in FMB it just says: Section [MAP2D] not found in the ash_load.ini
