Rign and Bead Gunsight for Hawk-81?
#16

Balto,

I am having a hard time finding center-on shots. All I can say is that I have seen a lot of shots that suggest a centered sight.

Ok guys..here we go.

Heres a pic of RT smith with the Ring and Bead on the right side...but alos notice he has a reflector sight installed as well.

And from the same aircraft taken by RT Smith himself in flight.

Both pics from Osprey's book AVG Colors and Markings.

So I guess I should admit I was wrong. Seems most or all AVG Hawk-81s had their Ring and Bead sights mounted on the right side.

Jep, as I said, it was on the right side......but i think when you modell it right it will be not possible to aim with it :?

Yes, but if there was no reflector sight, would the ring sight still be set to the right?

I am willing to admit that the evidence against my view is mounting, but as a practical matter, modelling an off-line sight is more difficult.

The alternative would be to model a BF109-like offset into the Hawk, I could do it, but I'm not sure if there are enough people interested to justify the effort.

Yeah, solution would be to have the shift+f1 option like in the german planes.
