Ok, after doing a couple of reading. I'm absolutely sure that at least the C version of the Ta-152 has used the EZ 42 Gyro gunsight.

Take a look at the aircraft guide that came with the game itself. And read what it has to say about the Ta-152C. The 1C guys thought about putting the gunsight in there, but with not enough info about it (which i think we solved) they were forced to install regular sights.


Ta-152C, and potentially some other Luft'46 planes modeled in our sim were projected to use the EZ42 gyro sight, similar to the K-14 "ace-maker" used in late-war American planes. However, no detailed information about the features of the EZ42 exist, and we were forced to "install" regular sights on these planes. Even in the cockpits with 3D models visually based on the EZ42 design, they function as simple reflector sights.

Any opinions, guys?

Well, like I mentioned already in the "EZ42 mod for Ta183" thread, it's a question of tuning the gunsight to specific weapon - Mg151 and Mk108 have very different ballistics (i.e. muzzle velocity), which makes the gunsight usable only with one set of guns.

But it would be very wellcome, even if usable only with Mg151 (which I'd prefer ove Mk108). Good and historically backed up idea.

I'm all for the idea, putting into consideration the new info found about the reticle. It needs to be the original reticle floating, and not the 'diamonds' after all, it seems.

Problem is, I had a look at the files, and it seems to map one side of the gyro reticle individually, if i'm not mistaken...

And I may add that the Me-262 also got equipped with the EZ42.
It also has the 4 108s like the Ta-183 so maybe it makes it easier?

Sounds interesting. Do you have a link or some kind of proof? I'd love to read into that!





Since a lot of info has been found about this gunsight, is it possible to add this to at least a few more planes that used them? Here is proof that at least this one has. I've seen a post here earlier about a handbook for the EZ42. Unfortunately for me, its in German. But its out there, and pretty sure many people here could use this data.

Also, (just assuming) since the Ta-152 uses the 'same' cockpit as the '45 Dora (its basically a late FW design anyways), should it not be easier to be able to install, since the '45 Dora already has the EZ42 installed via mod?

I have found more links containing information on which aircraft this sight was used (or predicted to be used) on. I will keep editing this post with more information that I find (if I find any more )

actually you stumble across the info in basically any in-depth book of the 262.
I have the 4 volume smih&creek "bible" which deals with the EZ42 in a seperate chapter. In volume two, page 347 there are drawings and pictures. It was not common equipment of course but built into several batches like field testing.
A lot of the JV44 planes seemed to have it but a lot of pilots where too much used to the old style and used only the fiexed mode due to the flaws it had. So it is reported.
