BU0836 interface board
#1

I've built a cockpit with real switches.
I use a BetaInnovations Plasma Lite V2 board, 2 BetaInnovations MM2 boards and a BU0836 board to connect the switches to my computer.

Though they all work in XPlane and FS9, the BU0836 isn't seen by IL2. The other three are.
Anyone have any suggestions?

Running under Windows Vista64

do you have any other controllers attached- eg joystick. IL2 has a limit of 4 controllers and if the bu is the 5th controller seen by windows IL2 will not see it.

you might be able to combine controllers using joymapper from here

sounds like you've got even more switches in your pit than me  - running a plasmalite with gt 64x expansion here

Hey Bolox, nice seeing you here M8. I love all the device link pits you made and how you've improved the smoothness, especially the spit my favorite, your P51 p47 pits are also wonderful pieces of work. Hell their all great (Zero bf109 ect...) for any one into device link I recommend check these out. Former ddpairborne59

Well, there's also a set of pedals....
So that's one plasma lite (24 connections) and expansion card to raise that to 32 connections.
Two MM2s for another 32 connections (16 each).
And the BU for 32 connections.

That's 5 devices with 96 connections...
31 toggles ... 33 push buttons

I went with direct rather than matrix mode with the betainnovation stuff...more reliable.

ok so 5 devices and you are not mentioning axes, actually should be simple to use the 5th controller- just use it in keyboard emulation mode using keyboard studio(you are trying to assign commands using dx buttons yes?)- the beta innovations keyboard studio can be used to assign keyboard strokes to the bu (and assign press/release functions  )
i believe you can do this with F4IM also, which replaced keyboard studio. if it doesn't pm me your email and i can send you keyboard studio if you can't find it.

what expansion card are you using, ace 4x?- that adds 32 additional buttons to the 24 available on plasmalite for 56 total possible buttons without needing to use matrix wiring. definitely prefer direct wiring to matrix mode for traceability of faults 8)

IL2 uses an 'old' input protocol so can only 'see' 32 dx buttons per device so you need to use keyboard emulation for buttons 33 up anyway for any devices that exceed this number.

hope this gets you running

Trying to avoid keyboard emulation....by any means. But that's me.....
I have 5 axis..x-y on joystick, throttle, collective (for helicopter flying), and rudder pedals.

Its the BetaInnovations x64 but I've limited myselft to 32 buttons per controller max.

32 BU0836 scan matrix
32 Plasma Lite direct plus 5 axis
16 each MM2 direct.

Looks like the joymapper may be the answer. I need to check it out - hopefully today.

Can't get ppjoysetup to install ppjoystick on my Vista64 system.
The install program runs but ends with an error saying the installation wasn't successful and the program won't run.

"Error installing new device drivers. PPJoy will not be operational.
You will need to manually install the device drivers."

Don't know how to do that.

no idea how to do that either- can't find any mention of 64 bit os support so you may not be able to do this- sorry i missed the os part

might be worth asking Leo at betainovations or a plea for help in the viperpits thread i linked?

otherwise without breaking your self imposed restrictions on emulation/button numbers per controller can't think of any way round this apart from running IL2 on an xp partition- which seems a bit of a pain.

good luck

Leo said he doesn't know. Suggested searching the web. I did. Most posts talked about viruses, trojans, etc. once pportjoy was installed... ??
