Sakishima and Northern Formosa 4.09 WIP
#31

It's been some months since I last posted an update. I've learn't a lot and have been back and rebuilt Formosa from scratch but I'm finally satisfied with the look of it.

My first (almost) complete area is Giran on the north east side coast of Formosa.

Ian - it was TF52 that struck Sakashima in April/May - not TF58.

Details are here under "Iceberg" (hit number 52 at the top): http://pacific.valka.cz/forces/index_frame.htm

Preview of the 2D map, I still need to add the roads and railways on Formosa as well as more text. The map is 1:1 scale and measures 341 miles by 186 miles.

Very nice!

Since you've learned so much in the process, and gone back and re-started from scratch, maybe if you could find the time you could share some tips for the AAA community map making guide (up above in the stickies).

For example, I would love to learn how you made such a beautiful 2d map....

I've just completed Miyara airfield on Ishigaki Jima. Took a while to set out and test the taxi/spawn points but I think I'm getting the hang of laying them out so that the AI will use them.

That's a good looking airfield.

I totally agree about plotting taxi points. The first few attempts I made were full of crashing and vanishing aircraft, but I soon learnt the basic rules so I get it right (nearly) all the time Smile

Hey ijeremiah that is really looking nice there. Love 1:1 scale- I think it gives a flavour of history when getting to/from target.

Do I understand from the above quote you've figured out to spawn, taxi and takeoff from hardstands? Confusedhock: If so, that'd be mighty cool indeed 8)

Cheers
