This is the read me that will appear in the install window

PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE INSTALLING

Welcome to the first AAA installer. It has always been our intention to provide a simple way of installing the mods found on this site, and we thank you for your patience. The turnout of modders has been overwhelming and their efforts have produced many mods and making installations piecemeal and quite confusing. This installer contains only finished products (no beta's) in a simple point and click installation.

It is our intention that this package and future updates make up a common set of mods that the AAA Community, and others, can use as a standard. The reason is simple, those that want to enforce crt=2 for coops and online wars may do so knowing everyone is using the same set of mods. Therefore, we strongly suggest you do not add new aircraft to this installation.

If you wish to add mods that are betas or have not yet been added through an update, please make a separate copy of the game and add those items to the copied game.

We thank each and every modder that has contributed to this install and we wish to thank 1C for their fine game.

Installation Warnings:

1. If you have IL-2 installed, Copy your current IL-2 1946 game folder and rename the new folder. Next, Delete the FILES and MODS folders. The new install will copy 4.08 dll's allowing any Direct 2 Drive user to be compatible with the mod.

2. If you are installing this package over a fresh installation of the IL-2 1946 DVD, you must patch the game to 4.08m.

Installation Instructions:
Left-Click on the Browse button and Select your IL-2 1946 4.08m game folder. Selecting OK and Left-Click the Install button.

Thank you
The AAA Mod teams.

@philip.ed I would suggest at a minimum, backing up the root files of the game onto a suitable backup media such as an external drive, dvd or whatever you might use.

Now, we have tried our best to include every mod out there but as everyone can attest, planning does not insure correctness. Therefore we will be adding expansions and additions in further releases of the installer. Some may add or remove or repair mods.

For those modders whose work is not included at this time please PM Jolly, Coster or I and we will make every effort to include it next time. With this said, we will hold release dates with deadlines on mod submittals for inclusion into the next release.

The deadlines will be posted in a future thread, so if you are a modder keep a look out for the post.

Where's the link to download this? Or should the subject line be "going to be out today"?

Thanks in advance

what version of the sound mod is being included?

Looks great, but.....

If I don't want the FW190 bar mod, and the 6DOF (I have trackir, but not to support 6DOF), then I can't use it at all? or can I delete out the stuff I don't want? Seems pretty limiting if I have to use everything.

Suggestion:
If its an all or nothing thing, at least just put stuff in there isn't controversy on - e.g. the FW190 no bar mod - I like the stock one just fine, and think its more accurate than the mod.

PS, what about all the new objects? Especially LaRhones?

The ability for 6DOF will be included. It will be up to the user to select using the switcher provided if they want 6DOF enabled or not.

The sound is a combination of 9.0 and 9.3 with other additions.

So please be patient and don't assume anything and judge for yourself when it's posted.

Glad to see others are confused too. Maybe it's the variety of languages and barriers they pose. I saw this earlier in the day, USA MDT Greenwich -7 hrs, and hunted around for a good bit before I decided it wasn't posted elsewhere for download.

This is the "Discussion Section" and not the download section. I am sure MrJolly was not taunting and didn't realize some of us would be rummaging around trying to find the download.

Also, it is "tomorrow" in many lands and soon to be so here. I'm betting some glitch caused a delay. It will get here when it gets here or for sure in "Two Weeks". Big Grin

@Spinetti .... if it follows the usual practise...then each mod will have its own folder in the MODS folder.... so you will easily be able to disable the 6DOF or FWbar mods by just adding a '-' in front of their folder names

Cool.. just making sure.
I actually have a full set of mods all working just fine (except for Bf109 external MG sound being too loud), so its kind of a "nice to have" anyway, but will be a great help to new folks.

Thanks.

VERY nice work. Great to hear.

I am very new here and spent quite some time browsing and reading, deciding if I'd make the jump into adding mods. It seemed pretty daunting at first. Finally I took the plunge, after following Forager's excellent directions in his Beginners thread. I've spent the last three days struggling to get everything installed, which I did manage to do, for the most part. So, this release is ironic! But a really good thing.
It will be a great boon for this community and new comers. The easier it is, the more people will be inclined to want give it a shot. Being one of those new guys I can say that with confidence. It's nice when everyone can be included!

I am guessing that none of the NEW planes replace any of the stock planes? These are all New Slot additions? Previously I only added the AAA plane packs not knowing whether the Russian Community planes would replace others.

I'd like to make one suggestion if I could, I think there should be a standard for objects so that people don't have to hunt down 500 different things just to load a map...And that would be an excellent addition in the future. An all inclusive set of Object mods that don't overwrite each other, then when someone makes a map or battle or whatever, they can just say, "you will need the community object pack to run this".

The only thing I have left to get installed, which at the moment is very hard to understand, is the QMBPlus.

So thank you for all your efforts on this, as well as all the mods...they are keeping this game fresh and beautiful. It's a helluva a thing to see a game so old, so alive, relevant and playable 8 years out.

Mord.
