You've made tons of great Spit skins, Chris, but the authentic ones tend to be all business. Nice to have some Spits with more color to them, M8 :!:

Don, these are 'authentic, the top one is from the RNAF, the bottom one was/is painted in the colours of 610 RauxAF I think.

Oh! Thought you made 'em up as "what if's"!

What time period are we talking here, Chris :?:

610 Sqn disbanded in 1957, final A/C were Meteors so these were about 1947 (real ones were F14's I think)
The RNAF I have no idea, a squad mate asked me to do it (his fathers company restores them and is currently working on a Dutch T9)

The silver and red spit is 1947 Kings cup air race colours and was an F.21 Smile my favourite spitfire paintscheme

Hi.

The Dutch spit is from 1949-1954 I think. I believe our spits were out of frond line use from 1954, but might be a little earlier.

Chris, is that dutch one a skin of your's? Never seen it. Not uploaded to M4T is it? Shame!!

The Dutch spits were first in RAF camouflage. Grey-Green. Their squadron code was H-individual number. Then 322 squadron went to the indies, and the spits were painted in some green colour. After their return, they were painted silver, and they were coaded 3W-individual number.

3W had been the squadron's code during their time in the RAF. Spitfires were also flown at the fighter school I believe, but I don't know to much about that.

My information might be incorrect, it's all based on memory.

Cheers,
Joppe

It's a Mk.XIVe but I'll let you away with that Wink

There is a bubble top MK.XVI with the same paint scheme which is also gorgeous serial No. TD248

Nice work Kris, I've made the RN201 skin before as well, lovely looking aircraft.

Nightshifter,
The skins you made were top drawer mate, I just wanted to avoide the warping/stretching probs and the MkVIII does that superbly
